    Week 5 Other Games Thread

I don't normally rag on the officiating, but there was a big play at the end of the first half where the Georgia DB had his arms around the helmet of the Alabama WR and nothing was called. DeBoer rightfully went nuts. It was even more obvious than the phantom offside on the Gophers. Can't...

    Week 5 Other Games Thread

USC just coasts along on athletic ability. Moss is absolutely the real deal, but they made so many stupid errors in the first half that this game would have been a total rout had they not played with their collective heads in their collective asses. Badgers look physcial as always.

***OFFICIAL MINNESOTA AT MICHIGAN BATTLE FOR THE LITTLE BROWN JUG IN-GAME THREAD!!!***

I would guess that a lot of money was lost today. I would be surprised if most bettors hadn't gone heavy on Michigan at 10 1/2.

***OFFICIAL MINNESOTA AT MICHIGAN BATTLE FOR THE LITTLE BROWN JUG IN-GAME THREAD!!!***

Gophers had already covered. Still a bad call. Probably some homecooking of sorts. Can't believe that call cannot be reviewed.

    Lincoln Kienholz -

I like that Lindsay is seeing action. If Wittke sticks around, he could possibly serve as back-up and allow them to redshirt Kollock next season. That's the old school QB succession framework, but that has been disrupted by NIL and the transfer portal. It's hard to conjecture about Kienholz...

18 former Gophers land on initial NFL 53-man rosters

Was looking for the "Gophers in the Pros" thread and this was the closest one to that. The Rams' Puka Nukua is going to be out for a few more weeks and that has thrust Tyler Johnson into the Rams' starting line-up. Cooper Kupp went down yesterday, so that may mean more targets for Johnson. I...

Post Game Thread: Gophers Dominate Nevada

I share your concern. The line didn't appear to be getting that much push yesterday against a team I thought they would steam roll. Maybe Nevada is better upfront on defense than I expected them to be, but our line just didn't seem to fire out. I didn't see the second game, but has Brosmer...

Updated AP Top 25 rankings - Nebraska #23

I don't know if Keith Jackson was calling the game, but the 1971 Oklahoma/Nebraska game was one of the greatest games in college football history. Nebraska won 35-31 fueled by an amazing punt return by Johnny Rodgers. Oklahoma had installed the Wishbone offense--which was relatively new at the...

Post Game Thread: Gophers Dominate Nevada

Listened to a lof of the first half, but watched the second half. I thought the O-line didn't look that good and they must be holding their cards fairly close to the vest when it comes to the passing game. As per the defense, I was surprised that they kept getting sucked in on the QB draw...

P.J. Fleck on freshman QB Drake Lindsey’s debut: ‘Cool, calm, precise’

It all depends on if Kollack stays committed, but I wouldn't be against them burning Lindsay's redshirt if Kollack stays on-board. Kollack redshirts next year and there is then two years between them. I think that would make for a fairly smooth succession IF one or the other doesn't get on the...

Updated AP Top 25 rankings - Nebraska #23

Rhule is a decent coach and has a clear idea of what he wants to establish at Nebraska. They really haven't had that recently. They've had two good coaches since Osborne left. The fan base wasn't satisfied with Solich even though his winning percentage was .753 (.688 in conference play)...

***OFFICIAL RHODE ISLAND AT MINNESOTA IN-GAME THREAD!!!***

I agree. It's not necessarily a bad thing, but I've always seen Fleck as a bit of a Mr. Sportsmanship when it comes to approaching possible blow-outs. In the past, he seemed to take his foot off the gas once the game was in hand. He probably could have ran up another 20 points on New Mexico...

***OFFICIAL RHODE ISLAND AT MINNESOTA IN-GAME THREAD!!!***

Agree totally. I think Daniel Jackson is really good, but he's not a lights-out guy that defenses routinely scheme around so it's good to have other guys in the mix. We'll have to see on Brosmer as the season unfolds further, but what has impressed me is his ability to check-down and spread...

***OFFICIAL RHODE ISLAND AT MINNESOTA IN-GAME THREAD!!!***

Gophers had 12 different guys catch a pass today. I can recall games under Fleck when we didn't throw the ball 12 times much less successfully to 12 different guys.

***OFFICIAL RHODE ISLAND AT MINNESOTA IN-GAME THREAD!!!***

Just following the Gamecast on ESPN, but Fleck has gone away from one pattern and while he's put in the 2nd-string QB in blow-outs in the past, it's usually been just to hand off. He's got his foot on the gas today.

    St. Thomas recruit Ramogi Nyagodi

I agree. St. Thomas will probably be like the Gophers in that every incoming freshman that plays well in the Summit League will look to move up.

Culture Counts: Deion Sanders chaotic culture turns into locker room violence in Colorado

He's a Hall of Fame player so that does make him a football guy, but it doesn't mean squat when it comes to coaching and running a program.

Culture Counts: Deion Sanders chaotic culture turns into locker room violence in Colorado

Agree. If things really sour and he moves on, I fully expect a messy set of recriminations to be spouted by Deion including "The spoiled players wouldn't buy in!" "They aren't real men willing to pay the price." "Administration is gutless." And on and on it will go. It will be a caravan of...

Gophers get their 2026 QB - Owen Lansu

Indeed! Both Randy and Lanny are sons of Angelo Poffo (pictured below), who was also a big-time pro wrestler. Former NWA tag team champ in the mid-1960s with Chris Markoff as the Devil's Duo managed by Bobby "The Brain" Heenan.
