And I see the point about Alcantara blowing his arm out and you're screwed...but if he doesn't and you have a legit ace for the next 5 years to go along with a good, young lineup and the rest of our staff? Why not?

Id do anything they wanted if Buxton, Miranda, and Duran were off the list but those 3 would have to headline...at least 2 would have to headline (prob Miranda and Duran as I don't know how they'd approach Buxton's contract)

Yeah we'd be talking probably Miranda, Duran, Arraez, and 3 of our top 5 prospects.

I'd do that in a heartbeat but sadly I think he'll demand names like Buxton or Duran along with top minor league players.

I'd honestly give up the farm system for Alcantara at this point. His contract is good for like 3 or 4 more years with team options after (I think haven't checked). In 3 or 4 years you can re stock a bit and we'll be contenders during that whole time.

Varland, Winder, and even Woods-Richardson can fill in for injuries. So, I agree...#1 or #2 caliber starter or there isn't much of a point.

i'm just really not too sure how much more we CAN improve the staff...i mean we could have 5 number 1's to throw out there but realistically we have 5 pretty competent starters with a few decent depth pieces already. In my opinion, on paper, this is the best staff we've had 1-5 in 20 years. If...

    Next Man Up?

If Athan was in a walking boot he'll be the starter day 1 unless it was a torn achilles. Even a broken bone he'll be back by the spring game.

    Damn Athan

I heard they amputated the leg in the locker room with some hedge cutters

Overall it was a pretty even game. The final 5 minutes Dallas hit some shots when the Wolves D fell apart. Tough loss but can't say they played terrible.

Iowa crashes in biggest point-spread loss of all-time

Remember that time when the Gophers were 30+ point favorites in football and lost?

    Greatest Gopher Collapses at Metrodome

Here's what would be interesting to me...and maybe incredibly difficult to find due to perspective etc (because we're gopher fans all losses hurt more blah blah blah) but are there any other teams out there that have a thread like this...and if so, can our top 5 or top 10 horrid losses top theirs?

No it's a long shot but some of the teams ahead of them have not looked all that great lately. They're playing with some high confidence.

That's a real possibility at this point.

The Vikings won't be playing Dallas or San Fran in the first round.

    Colley Matrix

On a smaller scale...is there going to be a possibility of there being 3 undefeated Big Ten teams before the conference championship after USC and UCLA join? Let's say Ohio St goes 12-0, Iowa goes 12-0, and USC goes 12-0. None of which obviously play each other during the regular season. One...

He's proud he had a decent game...probably not much more to look into than that.
