It’s not the reason we are losing but football officiating is just horrendous. A face mask is an enormous penalty and it’s caught about 1/2 the time, interference is pretty much thrown at random, offensive PI is ignored. It really takes away from the games.

It’s hard to say how he’ll translate. Typically, guys who don’t get great separation struggle at the NFL level unless they are big. That said, Jackson really is a craftsman and I wouldn’t bet against him.

I don't mind the play call. It was a really good play by the one Illinois player. It also could have been easily picked up if one of the Gophers would have just slightly gotten in the way of the Illinois defender. It's one of the drawbacks of having a 39 year old punter.

This is 100% true. Even boards we sometimes joke about like HuskerMax and now this Illinois board absolutely nothing to some of the message boards. We're rubes, homers, and emotional, but Gopherhole looks like an embodiment of mental health compared to most of the college football online...

It's kind of part of the fun of college football. We often know the successors before we get to see them play any meaningful snaps. But I agree with your main point, every position should be up for grabs every year with the portal.

I’m not defending the pass blocking but Maryland was completely selling out against the run, even after Max had diced them up. Those plays in the backfield were made by good LBer coming straight downhill. It’s part of the reason the pass game was so wide open. We need to get better run...
