Oregon 12 Players on the Field

Seems like any decision to add time back would need to apply to any defensive foul that gives them a game-altering unfair advantage - DPI, defensive holding, etc. I think that’s fine, although I also think it’s fine to keep things as they are. These games aren’t fair, and I appreciate...

Vannini: The gap between the best CFB teams and the middle-tier teams hasn't been this small in at least a decade and it makes every week a wild ride.

Having a committee of people choose teams, some possibly less qualified than GopherHole posters, is not fun. While sometimes the “best” team gets knocked out of the NFL playoffs the end result has always been more meritocratic and satisfying than the CFB poll or title game winner.

Vannini: The gap between the best CFB teams and the middle-tier teams hasn't been this small in at least a decade and it makes every week a wild ride.

I wonder if one of the unforeseen and unpredictable effects of NIL is on culture: reduced player motivation and attention and camaraderie. The top programs are probably top heavy with higher paid guys, a pool of lower paid guys with the usual job hunting, dissatisfaction, checking out/quiet...

    KC and AK

TBF Kirk and Fleck and Harbaugh apparently all thought he’d be better than he is. Happens in the NFL too. People thought Tebow could be fixed. Seems mostly when things get rushed and the line can’t protect Athan’s mechanics go haywire. Hard to really see that in a more relaxed practice...

What grade would you give Gophers coaches in win over UCLA?

A- There aren’t many “horrible” teams in P4 (Purdue?) so after getting punched in the mouth by a IMO better than advertised UCLA team the guys had a great second half, overall. The optimism meter has swung back to a positive number. Loving the changes we’re seeing on offense, defense, special...

POST GAME THREAD: GOPHERS COMPLETE HOLLYWOOD SWEEP!!

Picking up the flag on the Jackson forcible contact to head or neck area…still not sure what defenseless means, targeting means. The rule specifically says defenseless means: A player with the ball who is already in the grasp of an opponent and whose forward progress has been stopped Pereira...

POST GAME THREAD: GOPHERS COMPLETE HOLLYWOOD SWEEP!!

Thought the defense came to play, forced the turnover in the second quarter and after the half. Both plays they only rushed four. Garbers was otherwise (I thought) excellent and was making plays. UCLA looked better than their record. That first defensive series after the half was critical and...

    KC and AK

Streaky thrower, horrible under pressure and the first half to second half meltdowns were epic. I’m genuinely interested if KC can whisper him into a good QB or if he just is who he is.

Predict the Score Thread: Minnesota at UCLA

UCLA could be better than their record but who really knows. Their record and scores don’t scream competitive team. Their turnover margin is among the worst in the conference while the Gophers are near the top. That said as SON alluded to are we ready to trust that the chains have been...

Quarterback sneak. One thing I don't understand

There are so few controversial goal line calls I can’t see the leagues ever making this a priority. Noticing holding, interference, neutral zone violations OTOH seems tailor-made for the existing automated camera systems and machine learning algorithms. Cameras aren’t blind…or biased.

    KC and AK

When the fanbase is openly talking about a hot seat, buyout numbers; the national media dismissive of the team (and were shocked by the USC win) coach probably saw some changes needed to be made. I’d be peeved if the coach didn’t adapt to realities; who here is the same person in their forties...

Any LA residents on the Hole?

Minnesotans talk about weather, Californians talk about traffic strategy. This isn’t even really parody

Any LA residents on the Hole?

As mentioned may as well drive down but if you can’t go years ago there was a place called the Beer Hunter in Cathedral City, looks like it’s now called DJs Sports Bar and Grill. The other Beer Hunter in La Quinta closed. This is your classic sports bar, fans of all types. Otherwise the Agua...

So do we love PJ again?

*Caveats including the usuals that have indicted G5 teams in past: roster getting beat up more versus stronger opponents, maybe not able to spell starters as much. Knock on effects. But, it’s all purely hypothetical. PJ defeated a highly ranked blue blood this year which tilts the scales.

So do we love PJ again?

Yep, you could be right the records and percentages might look the same. The bottom line is the 2024 team has turned a corner, looks competitive, got the run game going, got a screen game going, has a good QB, a good defense, and has a special playmaker in Koi. Most fans have gotta be pretty...

Any LA residents on the Hole?

The USC game is at 12:30, so personally wouldn’t stay for full game. The wild cards are ride availability and traffic. LA metro traffic is horrific at pretty much any time of day and weekend afternoons; anywhere coming in/out of of LA proper are definitely not an exception…but you just never...

    KC and AK

The guy wondering if AK throwing balls behind receivers on crossers is a timing thing.. Should we tell them? To his credit AK is throwing at a 55% clip, up from 53.

So do we love PJ again?

We agree his seat isn’t hot for a few reasons but I think where you and some others disagree is on whether PJ would have achieved the nine wins if he played in the East division, for example, or played Wisconsin when they were good. I think it’s pretty normal for sports fans to want to move on...
