Max Brosmer: Love this team! Proud of the strides that we have made this spring, but lots of work left to be done… THE CHASE!

Agree 100%. Yes the majority of FBS players are better than the majority of FCS players, but too many people write off a proven FCS player. A proven FCS player can be better than the 3rd string quarterback from Clemson, Oklahoma, etc. I still think one of our best transfer portal players ever...

STrib: Donors to Gophers face a decision: Give to the school or to the athletes?

I empathize with Iowa's Swam group, just like I do for Dinkytown Athletes. I am a big Gopher fan. I support them by buying football season tickets and making a mandatory donation. Unfortunately I don't have a cash tree in my front yard that I can go shake and make donations to every cause I deem...

STrib: Donors to Gophers face a decision: Give to the school or to the athletes?

You are not taking into account the positive effect on my mental health when the Gophers are playing well and winning games.

Rutgers has named Athan Kaliakmanis the starting QB. Rutgers QB Gavin Wimsatt, who started 18 games the last two years announces he's transferring

Overall I agree with you but for certain positions I don't blame him. Teams don't willingly play backup quarterbacks. It isn't like a running back, defensive lineman, or wide receiver where they rotate you into the game. I don't like, but I understand, why he would want to transfer. The easy...

Gophers WR Jaylen Varner enters the transfer portal.

I don't know anything about him, his situation, or anything so I can only speculate. He was a productive D2 receiver. Wanted to try his luck in the big leagues and found out quickly he wasn't ready for that. Hopefully he can land at a smaller FBS or FCS school and continue to work on his craft...

    Nebraska Spring Game

No chance the Gophers would have got 60,000 fans but the weekend of the traditional spring game was beautiful. Within 5 mins of the Gopher's stadium there was a NBA playoff game, Major League Baseball game, and two big concerts - Kane Brown at Target Center and Tim McGraw at Xcel. Either of...

Kill on Fleck: Coach has done a good job. There’s no doubt about that. MN has won. My personal feelings—one way or another—coach has done a good job.

No chance you can give Winfield credit for Kill. Yes, Jerry Kill recruited Antoione Winfield (not sure if he actually played for him or just Clayes), but after his name was brought up in the sexual assault despite not even being in the apartment that it took place in Winfield Sr said his son...

What Gopher sport do you have the most pride in?

Growing up basketball had always been my favorite but my vested interest is really being tested. 1) I can't stand college basketball anymore. Crazy how a sport went from being one of my favorite sports to least... 2) It is hard to follow the team when you don't have 3-4 years to get to know the...

Former #Gophers DE commit transfers to MN from Clemson.

All this means nothing, but I totally just geeked out on a deep dive of Minnesota football recruits. According to 24/7, - the 19th best player in Minnesota this last year was Zach Vanderpool, a defensive lineman from Byron, MN, who is going to NDSU. Interesting, the #14 player was Koi's...

Former #Gophers DE commit transfers to MN from Clemson.

Totally off topic, but how crazy is it the 73rd ranked player in Florida has this type of offer list and signs with Clemson. The talent in that state is unreal. No idea, but guessing the 73rd ranked player in Minnesota ends up in the MIAC.

    Make Gopher Football Great Again

Yep - I can tell you at the time I was coaching at a small 1A school. The U of M recruiter was the WR coach I believe and was the only college scout to come through our building that year.

    Make Gopher Football Great Again

He did, it was tied into the Minnesota Football Coaches Association coaching clinic. I attended once or twice.

    Make Gopher Football Great Again

This is a big question. Obviously having an invidivual who donates a ton of money would help, but even with that, Oregon for example has been on the doorstep a few times but has not been able to seal the deal. Not sure if this is leading to National Championships, but it actually started with...

    No Sitting Out for Transfers

I still like my idea.... 5 years of college eligibility - no redshirts (unless medically). - You can transfer at any semester break and gain immediate eligibility. - Each transfer costs you one year of college eligibility. - Grad transfers get a free transfer and can retain all 5 years of...

Matt Birk: If college athletes enter the transfer portal they shouldn't be eligible for NIL money.

I actually agree with Matt on this. NCAA, Conferences, or schools have no control over athletes getting NIL but it would be awesome (as a fan) if they could figure out a way to make a period of ineligibility for an athlete who receives NIL. I don't think this would hold up in the court of law...

    OJ Simpson

I am too young for a lot of this discussion - I never saw OJ, Gayle Sayers, or Jim Brown play. I feel the best running backs in my lifetime are Barry Sanders, Marshall Faulk, and Adrian Peterson. I have never seen someone straight up run the ball like Peterson, Faulk was great in ever facet of...

Just for fun: Top games/ seasons of Gopher football

Agree with both - the 2019 PSU game was probably the most fun sporting event I have ever been to and easily the most fun Gopher event I have ever attended. The stadium was rocking, everyone was into the game, and our best playmakers made big plays. The Bateman TD is still my favorite Gopher TD...

Potential NFL Kickoff/Onside Kick Rule Changes

I don't mind this rule. If it keeps the kickoff a play it is good enough for me. If we are making wholesale changes to the kickoff, more severe penalty for a touchback, etc... Let the teams earn a bonus point (or points) if the kicker can kick it through the upright.

Every Single Scholarship Gophers Football Player Has an NIL Deal, PJ Fleck Reveals

I was just going to say the same. Vast majority of college football players have an NIL deal in place. But, to PJ's defense... he isn't wrong and when he says it the average person on the street thinks "Wow, the Gophers must be doing something right."

P.J. Fleck and players spring conference.

I get it and support him with this decision. Still kind of sucks for a very small portion of the fan base... mainly those under 10. I am not sad I am not wasting a Saturday afternoon watching a glorified football practice, but I am sad I am not getting to experience seeing my son around some of...
