When was the last time ?

If I recall, Murray Warmath was doing the radio call with Ray. Murray, in his southern drawl, said something like: "We're havin' us some favorite pie, and it sure does taste good!"

So fill to me the parting glass, Good-night and joy be with you all.

    KC and AK

Kaliakmanis has the mythical, magical, always beloved Big Arm that fans and coaches alike tend to go ga-gah over. The only problem: there's more to playing QB than arm strength. Much, much more.

    After 25 years… I’m out

Let's say you're at a cocktail party and you are not enjoying yourself there. It's better to simply leave, rather than make a dramatic announcement first. If you make a big thing out of your own exit and nobody reacts or cares it could become awkward or downright embarrassing for you.

When was the last time ?

The bolded is the key question, I suppose. It seems as if there would be very few opportunities.

    After 25 years… I’m out

The volume of posts always seems to increase after a loss. The people who are more likely to post frequently after losses seem to vanish after wins, especially big, dramatic, extremely fun, joyful wins like the USC victory. The posted 'threats' to abandon their long-held fandom are part of the...

    Brosmer

Exactly. He has an understanding of the scheme and the plays and the purpose of the play design. He throws accurately and gets the ball out on time. He does not resemble a deer in the headlights. It's refreshing to say the least.

Jah Joyner was held on that last play

Mmmm. Interesting take. I've been a football fan for a year or two, and maybe I have an inflated opinion of my own football acumen but think I have a pretty good understanding of what holding is. Sometimes they call it, sometimes they don't and there seems to be no rhyme nor reason to when...

He has a QB now who is actually capable. That's a huge difference.

The UCLA game will be a test for Max. Here's what I see: As a team, USC is clearly a tougher adversary than UCLA, but... USC's defense is vulnerable to an opponent that can run the ball well, and Minnesota did just that. Brosmer made some key plays, but the Gopher rushing attack (as well as...

View of The Game from LA LA Land...

Earlier this week I caught a small snippet of DiNardo, Wannstedt et al discussing the (then) upcoming USC-Minnesota tilt. One of them said that after the Trojans came from behind to beat Wisconsin, someone on the USC team had made a comment that they hadn't expected Wisconsin to be that tough...

UCLA has played a really tough schedule

    Is it just my perception? This seems brutal... @ Hawaii — W 16-13 #23 INDIANA — L 42-13 @ #13 LSU — L 34-17 #6 OREGON — L 34-13 @ #7 Penn State — L 27-11

That impacts the 'quantity' stats — total yards, total TDs, etc. It would have no bearing on completion percentage, yards per attempt and rating. Both teams played against Michigan. Brosmer played against Iowa's defense, while Moss against LSU's. Iowa is currently 15th in the nation in scoring...

    Here's an interesting comparison: Max Brosmer vs. Miller Moss... Moss: 106 of 162 / 65.4% / 1198 yards / 8 TD / 2 INT / 7.4 yards per attempt / 141.4 rating Brosmer: 102 of 154 / 66.2% / 1094 yards / 6 TD / 4 INT / 7.1 yards per attempt / 133.6 rating ----------- Pretty close.

Gopher offensive line: what the stats say

From an interesting article on minnesotasportsfan.com • The Gopher offensive line has allowed the ninth-most pressures (44) and seventh-most sacks (eight) among Power 5 teams. • Max Brosmer stats vs pressure (PFF): 37.9% completion rate, 5.0 yards per attempt, 1-2 TD-INT, 37.3 NFL QB rating •...

How would you try and beat USC?

When the Gophers are on offense: The extended weather forecast is talking about 20mph+ winds. Obviously, that would impact passing offense and the kicking game. Also consider the fact that USC is currently ranked third from the bottom in the B1G in run defense, but sixth best in the B1G in...

    A huge concern

Minnesota is second to last in B1G rushing. Unfathomable for a P.J. Fleck team. Granted, we've played Iowa (second best in rushing defense) and Michigan (third best in rushing defense). We need to get the run game going.
