19 Teams Have A Shot at Earning At-Large Bid to College Football Playoff

Absent earning an automatic bid, there are 19 teams in the hunt for an at-large bid to the College Football Playoff. I can't see anyone else cracking into this group, though I gave brief (very brief) consideration to Boise State, Colorado, and Washington State. ACC (4): Clemson, Miami, Pitt...

***OFFICIAL HAMLINE AT MINNESOTA EXHIBITION IN-GAME THREAD!!!***

Presence. Frame. Long-term thinking (risky nowadays, I know, with free agency & Ben's tenuous status). Doesn't have to start, but give him a lot of minutes, he'll be able to handle it.

***OFFICIAL HAMLINE AT MINNESOTA EXHIBITION IN-GAME THREAD!!!***

I'm buying Odukale, as well. Possible they both start if Ben decides to go with Mitchell at PG? It's nice that it appears there are some options.

***OFFICIAL HAMLINE AT MINNESOTA EXHIBITION IN-GAME THREAD!!!***

My thoughts after first look at Gophers: Garcia, Mike Mitchell, and Rigsby entrenched as starters. The other two spots (PG/wing & C) still TBD. By the Big Ten opener @ Indiana, some combination of Asuma/Patterson/Odukale & Frank Mitchell/Edmonds will grab the other two spots. There is more...

You want a "magic number" for Gophers to hear name called on Selection Sunday? Go with 22

Good memory on my disclaimers. I forgot this time! I’ll go on record now & predict 14-17, 5-15. Keep in mind, most seasons the Gophers finish worse than my preseason prediction. Certainly hope that’s not the case this season.

You want a "magic number" for Gophers to hear name called on Selection Sunday? Go with 22

Looking at the Gophers' 2024-25 schedule, I feel comfortable saying a 22-9 regular season record would earn the Gophers "lock" status into the NCAA Tournament, regardless what follows at the Big Ten Tournament. Note that this season I broke it down more by home & road and non-conference &...

Post-Week 9 Field of 12 Projection: Indiana & Pitt replace Iowa State & Miami

Agree, Miami definitely has the easier path. My projections are based on what's happened to this point, not predicting future results.

Post-Week 9 Field of 12 Projection: Indiana & Pitt replace Iowa State & Miami

Good question. Condensed answer. ... Miami's opponents have a better record (29-32) than Pitt's (25-31), but for now I'm giving the edge to Pitt because of a better non-conference schedule. Pitt has wins over two decent Big XII opponents, @ 5-3 Cincinnati (28-27) & home vs. 4-4 West Virginia...

Post-Week 9 Field of 12 Projection: Indiana & Pitt replace Iowa State & Miami

Automatic qualifiers/conference leaders are determined by "best conference record", hence 1-0 is better than 0-0, 2-0 is better than 1-0, etc. If tied, I first determine auto qualifier using head to head (if applicable), then if no head to head, by most deserving. FIELD Of 12 PROJECTION...

Good for Jamo. Betts broke him in practice. 😂 😂

    NIT announces new selection process

Fair point. I think the biggest issue with the FOX tournament is the 2-week layoff. Not sure how thrilled players & coaches will be about that.

    NIT announces new selection process

Not to mention the CBI & CIT, postseason tournaments for the non-major conferences.

    NIT announces new selection process

Thanks, good catch on the Big XII. As NateDawg said, it’s basically the Disney/ABC/ESPN-based tournament (SEC & ACC) and a FOX-based tournament (Big Ten, Big XII, Big East)

    NIT announces new selection process

The Big Ten and Big East plan on going forward with their own 16-team postseason tournament. ... 2 automatic bids apiece. So presumably the College Basketball Crown (CBC) will get the best available Big Ten & Big East teams not selected to the NCAA Tournament. Will be interesting to see how...

    KenPom Preseason Top 100 - MN #59

As a reference point, Oregon finished 23-11 & #59 in last season's final NET rankings. The Ducks earned a NCAA Tournament bid via the Pac 12 automatic bid.

    NIT announces new selection process

The selection process seems more complicated than the NCAA tourney. https://www.ncaa.com/news/ncaa/article/2024-10-21/nit-announces-new-team-selection-protocol-and-new-committee-members
