John Shipley: Gophers’ Richard Pitino has built a good team, but the blueprint isn’t sustainable

He has not shown the ability to: develop players, secure the state’s top talent, develop a culture, manage in game adjustments. How can we lose talent to Wisconsin?! That’s frustrating. I can see losing to Duke, other blue bloods....not Wisconsin.

Someone tell Ricky that there’s a TV timeout every 4 minutes. Don’t take a timeout at 16:01!! I realize a dead ball is required.

***OFFICIAL MINNESOTA AT wisconsin NEW YEARS EVE IN-GAME THREAD!!!***

Pitino needs to coach better and make in game adjustments. No pressing, no zone defense ever. You don’t beat Wisconsin in Madison in a half court game.

***OFFICIAL MINNESOTA AT wisconsin NEW YEARS EVE IN-GAME THREAD!!!***

Officiating is really hard, I did it for 10 years at high school level. The bigger the players, the harder it is because your view gets blocked. Yesterday’s officials were bad. Davison is a cheap shot and flopper. Refs should know that going in.

Any coach would know and do this: 1) put in a zone when getting beat in paint, 2) press when you can’t shoot to create easy baskets. This is 7th grade level coaching. Ricky can’t coach, it’s that simple.
