    Our Stadium

Exactly. A steamy day/night at Fenway or Wrigley is bound to be made worse by "seat overflow"!

Cool plays that happened against MSU

Th e two On Morgan's run, the two TV guys thought a flag could have been thrown for feigning a slide. That occurred to me also. The replay made me feel he was lucky not to have hurt himself with that awkward cut.

    Michigan Fans Talking Shit

Your response is an excellent paraphrase of what Warmath often said in his folksy Tennessee drawl when facing a "superior" opponent. You truly do "remember Murray"!

    Spann-Ford highest rated TE

Brock is terrific in the studio. Articulate, makes great eye contact with the camera. However, I think someone watching the WIU game without a Minnesota connection might have been put off by his homerism.

The headline in the Sunday paper will read?…

I thought about that revenge angle also until I remembered that the Vikings beat the Eagles in Philadelphia in 2018. It was the game when Linval Joseph rumbled about 65 yards with a tipped pass.

Frost Melt - all things 2022 Nebraska implosion thread

Were you there during Ryan Leaf's time? I have read that he and some of his mates were kind of a town menace. Just one of the red flags that the Chargers chose to ignore.

How will you greet Jerry Kill at the game?

That's how I remembered it as well. He had been banished to left field due to an odd throwing issue, a la Steve Sax, and so was an easy target.

Chris Streveler! NFL version of closer??

With a couple of late runs to kill the clock. Was surprised to see him go into a slide on one when he had a head of steam and a chance to punish a defensive back. Don't recall any such discretion when he ran wild against San Jose State.

Iowa SDSU depth chart: top WR out? starting cb suspended,

Arland Bruce! Some memorable big plays from him in 1999, like scoring the winning touchdown the last time the Gophers won in Iowa City.

    Ta'Lon Cooper possible neck injury?

Hope this doesn't play out like the Fernando Tatis, Jr. fiasco for the Padres. He crashes on his motorbike/cycle in December and doesn't inform the team. The team hears about it in the media and asks him how he's doing. He says "I'm doing great. See you in spring training". He shows up at camp...

    Fond Memories vs Alabama

Alabama had not allowed anyone to rush for 100 yards that season but Barber and Maroney both went over 100 that day. When Cupito got hurt early, the Gophers really leaned on those two. Rhys-Lloyd missed a short field goal late in the game that was nearly fatal. Bama didn't have their starting...

De'Vondre Campbell is NFL First Team All-Pro!

The Gophers beat the daylights out of that left-handed Morris kid. Hoke should have yanked him much earlier. When it got to 30-7, Gardner came in with about 10 minutes left and they got an annoying cosmetic touchdown. If Gardner had come in earlier, I would have been concerned.

Isaac Fruechte named OC at Winona St

Yes! He and Engle didn't get a lot of targets in that run-heavy offense. I recall Fruechte being asked to run the jet sweep several times with unhappy results.

De'Vondre Campbell is NFL First Team All-Pro!

His pick six at Ann Arbor will forever stand out for me. It sent droves of entitled Michigan fans streaming for the exits. Delightful to see their sad faces. Brady Hoke's days were clearly numbered. s

May have to start new divisions

This has been a problem for a very long time. When Hugh McElhenny came out of the University of Washington and signed with the 49ers in 1952, he complained of having to take a pay cut.

Five years ago today, P.J. Fleck was named Gophers football head coach! What is your favorite football memory since then?!

Yes! I try to come back to Minnesota for a mid-to-late November game and hope for interesting weather ( I live in San Diego). When the snow started flying in the 2nd half, the Boilers clearly did not want to be there. They played like a dome team or one from SoCal. Didn't like the consolation...

    2004 gophers

I was there and have replayed the last sequence endlessly. Mason played it like he had a defense, which he did not, especially in the 4th quarter of that game. He gave it to Maroney 3 times and couldn't get a first down. I was yelling for Russell to get that last carry. Then I was hoping he had...

At the end of the day, we are still just human

To paraphrase Garrison Keillor- Things could be worse. Ond day they very probably will be. Be grateful that they haven't gotten worse yet. Enjoy today, if you can.

3rd season since 1968 with ZERO large-margin losses.

There is a partial explanation for this. 1969 was the year in which the clock began being stopped after every first down. This adds a few minutes to each game. 5 seconds or so per first down? In games where there is a talent disparity, a longer game gives more opportunity for this edge to be...

POLL!!!! - Better Minnesota Football Coach?

Grant's best teams benefitted greatly from the fact that the other 3 teams in the division were not usually very good. Similar to New England, they were virtually guaranteed 4-6 division wins a year and a regular season record that would allow at least one playoff game at home, often in the...
