Doogie: I have every reason to believe Richard Pitino WILL be back as Gophers coach, there are just no signs

If Pitino is returned I will be voting with my feet and pocket as I walk into Williams.

Doogie: I have every reason to believe Richard Pitino WILL be back as Gophers coach, there are just no signs

I have no problem with Coyle retaining Pitino, but not sure that hearing nothing is newsworthy.

Justin Gaard wants MN to keep Pitino

Speaking of high standards, do you feel you are holding your own self to a high standard by always reminding others of their low standards :). One thing to think it, another to say it over and over. Some of us think the best path to success is support the program and trust the athletic...

Justin Gaard wants MN to keep Pitino

Was approaching it from the aspect of preseason we were not expected to finish with 8 wins. Which of course we did in a conference that was more challenging than expected and included 4 excruciating losses. Mainly wanted to make the point that this season wasnt a dumpster fire as some portray...

Justin Gaard wants MN to keep Pitino

Agree. If a failing coach then a change should be made.

Justin Gaard wants MN to keep Pitino

I just think the story is deeper than his record. See my above post. Also dont think finding the next super coach is easy and dont think Coyle is particularly interested in a failed hire on his ledger. He will and should weigh any potential change very carefully.

Justin Gaard wants MN to keep Pitino

Also true that we did better than most big ten teams the last 3 seasons with tournament appearances/wins. This despite strong headwinds. 2019-20 exceeded expectations. Not saying we should or shouldnt keep Coach, just dont think it's cut and dried. Based upon the last 4 seasons, I would say...

Excellent Read: Head Coaches, Schools Go Unpunished

Sickening. Hard to understand how fans of these school justify, but they do. Makes me wonder if we would sell our souls as well if gophers were natty contenders?

Pitino era is over, start the search now.

Will disagree with your certainty of Pitino's ineptitude. Have given reasons for this in other posts so wont bore you by repeating those. Concern would be recruiting going forward and would think Coyle has a sense of that either way.

I see your incredible and raise it with one of my own. Incredible your perspective is so narrow. You be you, I guess.

Pitino era is over, start the search now.

What are the odds the coaches mentioned above can match or exceed Holtmann, Gard, McCaffery, Turgeon, Miller at UM? 50-50? Less? Much less? I know that Pitino's big ten record is low hanging fruit, but also true that his tourney appearances/success the last three seasons compare favorably...

    Dan Dakich

Agree on Dakich. I like Ben Brust - did our game with NW. Personally, would be happy with just the play by play voice, no analyst.

All Things 2021 Gophers Basketball Recruiting Thread

Talked to a friend who saw Tschetter play at sections last night. Was very impressed and thought gophers should offer. My friend did throw in the caveat that foot speed might be an issue.

Anybody listening to the Pitino show?

Making excuses just makes the coach look small. I know coaches want to defend their programs but fans are aware of the situation, no need to always bring it up. Gophers have a proud tradition of excuse making including Jerry Kill referring to injuries every other sentence and PJ with year zero.
