    Gophers Week 2 Uniforms.

No clue but would assume that if they are allowed to not wear them there must not be an obviously higher injury risk. Still looks weird though. :) Carlos Santana for the Twins has his baseball pants up over his knees as well....just looks wrong.

    Gophers Week 2 Uniforms.

See more and more football players not wearing knee pads.....and it just looks wrong. Ky Thomas was the first player I really remember noticing not wearing knee pads but seems to be becoming more of a trend.

Bateman made a really nice catch late in the game. Hopefully he can work his way into more targets.

P.J. Fleck on struggling offense: 'This isn't backyard football'

On their podcast the Travis and Jason Kelce have talked about making a backyard football game in the mode of the old Blitz games.

P.J. Fleck on struggling offense: 'This isn't backyard football'

News flash....most coach interviews are. They are just going through the motions because they have to. They are full of cliches and coach speak. You don't like Fleck so it really doesn't matter what he says....you will have a problem with it.

Week 1 Big Ten Power Rankings

Not surprised to see us near the back in these but not sure we really learned much of anything about most of the teams in the conference during week one because they were playing weak opponents. Need to see most of these teams against an opponent that is at least close to on par with them to...

P.J. Fleck on struggling offense: 'This isn't backyard football'

So realistically what is a coach supposed to say? If he takes the blame people say he is being disingenuous and doesn't mean it. If he points out mistakes by the players he is making excuses and passing the blame off to someone else.... Said before, it is never all on the coaches or all on...

P.J. Fleck on struggling offense: 'This isn't backyard football'

In the end it all comes down to how the players execute. Turnovers, penalties, dropped passes, mental errors, protection breakdowns, missed kicks..... Those will be the things that are obvious in the post game and will be asked about and discussed. D1 college football coaches are workaholics...

Lack of Ability to Scout and/or Develop Offensive Skill Recruits is the Real Problem

True but it was also a very balanced team. The ratio of run to pass can be skewed as long as both facets of the offense are productive.

2024 MN High School Football thread

Ohh there are definitely worse teams than Eastview but yeah it is frustrating how they just can't seem to find consistent success in football. Having two high schools in Apple Valley doesn't help but Lakeville has found a way to make it work.

Lack of Ability to Scout and/or Develop Offensive Skill Recruits is the Real Problem

It could be argued Fleck is doing the first two things already. He is running the system he feels his players are best equipped to run and not trying to do the things they are not good at. 2019 would dispute the last part of your post. They had elite receivers and a QB very good at making the...

P.J. Fleck on struggling offense: 'This isn't backyard football'

Huh? How many times have people in here complained about him saying "it's all on me"? He rarely throws the players under the bus. I sometimes wonder what a coach could say that would actually satisfy fans. Someone will always find a way to take issue with it, it is a no win situation for the...

    GopherHolers: A Fleck temperature check

Eslinger and Setterstrom were not highly regarded coming out of high school. Obviously they were both phenomenal players for us who were able to slid into the starting lineup right away as true freshman. But in terms of high school rankings they would be seen as mid tier talents. Browning and...

P.J. Fleck on struggling offense: 'This isn't backyard football'

I feel like he is responding to the outside noise more than he has in the past. He is clearly hearing what is being said about the offense....whether or not that leads to change remains to be seen. I mean he is not wrong in that it is way more complicated than fans and writers make it out to...

Happy Five, Upset Five Fanbases: Week 1 (Upset: Minnesota; "This game showed us zero imagination and risk from the Gophers")

Hey now....don't go trying to be rational or see multiple sides of things. We lost because the OC wasn't allowed to call the correct plays by the head coach....that is the only reason....execution, injuries, opponent.....none of that other crap factors in. :)

Happy Five, Upset Five Fanbases: Week 1 (Upset: Minnesota; "This game showed us zero imagination and risk from the Gophers")

Well said, but that kind of thinking doesn't fly around here after a loss. Too many people still acting like we lost to some crap team where we were heavy favorites. This was a toss up game and we were right there with a chance to win it at the end and came up short.

Max Brosmer vowing to be more efficient after disappointing debut

It has been one game.....give the kid a chance to make adjustments. I get that some of you expect perfection in all things all the time but Max is 100% correct about the adjustment period while being accountable for the fact that he has to play better and continue to develop.

    Nebraska is back...

He might be, but should probably see how he does against a good D before assuming too much. UTEP was 3-9 last year and one of those 3 wins was against Incarnate Word.

Happy Five, Upset Five Fanbases: Week 1 (Upset: Minnesota; "This game showed us zero imagination and risk from the Gophers")

Look, you 100% could be right but it is too soon to assume we know exactly what this offense under Harbaugh and with Brosmer under center is going to look like based only on just the first game. North Carolina is on par with most of the Big Ten and they didn't slaughter us in the second half...

Happy Five, Upset Five Fanbases: Week 1 (Upset: Minnesota; "This game showed us zero imagination and risk from the Gophers")

I get that people want to see a flashier offense that throws the ball around more. Heck, I wouldn't be against that either but the reality of it all is that Fleck is very risk averse so he isn't likely to go for a flashy offense unless he is sure he has the personnel that can execute it (2019)...
