Gophers quarterback Drake Lindsey apologizes for offseason arrest: “I’ve certainly grown a lot from them and learned a lot.”

As far as I know, the only thing we know about how Fleck is handling it, is that he says he's handling it. So I'll reserve judgement.

Gophers quarterback Drake Lindsey apologizes for offseason arrest: “I’ve certainly grown a lot from them and learned a lot.”

That was me. You're thinking of me. I said that Lindsay's behavior revealed a character issue that bothered me, and people on this board had a fit about that. They condescendingly lectured me about how underage drinking is normal and healthy, and at least 99% of college kids carry fake IDs...

Who is your "I wish we played them every year," opponent for the Gophers?

Michigan should be a protected rivalry, played every year.

Coach Coldest to Hottest Rankings: Big Ten (14. P.J. Fleck, Minnesota; 2. Luke Fickell, Wisconsin)

It only has to work once. I'm not giving Fickell my endorsement. It's just my sense that he'll win at Wisconsin.

Coach Coldest to Hottest Rankings: Big Ten (14. P.J. Fleck, Minnesota; 2. Luke Fickell, Wisconsin)

Why? Three reasons. Because he's an able coach, he's installing a new philosophy at Wisconsin, and they got better toward the end of last season.

Coach Coldest to Hottest Rankings: Big Ten (14. P.J. Fleck, Minnesota; 2. Luke Fickell, Wisconsin)

I'm convinced that Fickell will win at Wisconsin. I don't agree with the writer that the Gophers are on an "upward trajectory." They're generally holding steady and neither improving nor declining. Eventually we'll have to deviate from this middle-of-the-pack trajectory.

Gophers QB Drake Lindsey Arrested on Underage Drinking, Fake ID Charges

Your sarcasm is pointless. It sounds like your kids are doing great, congratulations. Like most parents, I want my kids to do great for themselves in the end, and also make fewer mistakes and hurt fewer people along the way.

Gophers QB Drake Lindsey Arrested on Underage Drinking, Fake ID Charges

On one hand, I'm sure that's true, to some degree. I am a realist. But on the other hand, what I said is 100% true. Kids will live down to whatever standards you set for them. So set them high.

Gophers QB Drake Lindsey Arrested on Underage Drinking, Fake ID Charges

Very few kids behave better than their parents expect. So why set low expectations? Realistically, you're the biggest influence on what your kids will think is normal. If you expect them to drink underage or commit minor crimes, they will know it and you can be 99% sure they'll do it. But if...

Gophers QB Drake Lindsey Arrested on Underage Drinking, Fake ID Charges

People have really different attitudes about character. If one of my kids was caught drinking underage and using a fake ID, that would be a major character issue for me. So I think it's a major issue when it involves a team leader, too.
