The Athletic: Why the cost of college football roster building won’t slow down anytime soon

$100 million rosters are a possibility, but that would be with donor money included.

Greg “Boom” May has been named head women’s hockey coach

I was hoping Coyle would hire a woman to coach the women. I think recruiting would be positively impacted and retention stronger.

Minnesota Golden Gophers in the NFL - 2025

Sorry to see Mafe leave the Seahawks, but I’m very happy he landed a nice contract. He should also get plenty of playing time with the Bengals.

Multiple media outlets list Mark Coyle as a candidate to replace Mitch Barnhart who is retiring as Kentucky AD

Certainly, having the Regents on board for sports fund raising could loosen the deep pockets of educational donors, but the target audience for athletic donations is not always the same and requires a concerted plan and effort from the ADs office. If Coyle is waiting for the Regents to change...

Multiple media outlets list Mark Coyle as a candidate to replace Mitch Barnhart who is retiring as Kentucky AD

Fund raising is Coyle’s weak spot, but it’s something he can easily address with hiring a very good chief fund raiser. And I mean on staff, not an agency. It’s a hard nut to crack, but Minnesotans will donate if there is a compelling reason to do so. Just look at St. Thomas getting millions...

Who is the Gopher MVP this year?

Tyson was the glue that held the team together as players were getting hurt. He’s still putting up MVP numbers, but at this point in time, I voted for Reynolds because right now he is the heart of the team.

Big Ten details 24-team CFP plan with no league title games

A football team has at least 4 times as many players, and at least double if not triple the staff. Football games are longer and played at separate facilities, where basketball has at least 4 teams sharing the same venue. It’s just a lot easier to have more basketball teams than football teams...

Big Ten details 24-team CFP plan with no league title games

The 24 team CFP will take 5 weekends to play for 16 teams. I don’t think many fan bases will travel well to all games. Nothing like empty seats in a stadium to help create an exciting atmosphere. /s I think a 16 team playoff should be tried before 24 teams. There will be fewer challenges, plus...

Izzo let’s his team play dirty

what Izzo does so well is when he thinks he might be losing a game, he cuts his players loose to get as physical and disruptive as they can. It often works as the opposing teams can’t handle the chaos of a suddenly different game. But I don’t think he encourages dirty play. Although Michigan...
