According the the American Merriam-Webster dictionary it’s punch line. According to the British Oxford dictionary it’s punchline.

Executives are inching closer to agreement to expand NCAA tournament to 76 teams with a 12-game “opening round” played at two sites starting in 26-27

The March Madness betting pool I’m in left off the play-in teams until they won a game to be in the ‘real’ 64 team tournament. We’ll leave off these 12 teams too.

Big Ten to distribute historic $1.37 billion in revenue to its 18 members for 2025 fiscal year

I’m under the same impression as you are because that’s the way it was for years. The exceptions are schools are reimbursed for some of their travel costs for football bowl games. There has been talk that national championship tournament games have some reimbursements as well. For bowl games...

Gophers QB Drake Lindsey Arrested on Underage Drinking, Fake ID Charges

I wouldn’t be surprised if some local animosity for Lindsey was at play. He’s in his hometown of Fayetteville Arkansas and his family is well known. If he was playing for the Razorbacks he’s driven home by the cops, but he’s not and so he gets driven to the precinct instead.

    FSU to B1G

It’s no secret FSU would love a B1G invite and it wouldn’t surprise me if it happened, especially with our new Commissioner.

    FSU to B1G

Maybe you misread the headline story about FSU’s top commit safety Mekhi Williams loving his Wisconsin visit. The Badgers must be throwing cash and coeds at Williams to get him interested in their declining program.

What Grade do you give Coach P for her portal signings?

A reputable source ranks the Gophers’ portal class at 9 out of about 325 schools and 20% of ‘Holers don’t give Coach P an A grade. Tough Crowd!!

Deven Eastern drafted by the Seattle Seahawks!!!

I thought Deven would go a little earlier, but I’m glad he’s a Seahawk. Hopefully, following him will be as much fun as watching Mafe.

    Gopher-centric Portal Short List

I’m agree. Kai was a freshman and was above average on D. On O he made some ill advised passes that worked in high school, but not DI. And his shot was often hit the rim just short of scoring. The short shot can come from not quite literally n tune with the speed of the game and strength. Both...

CBS: Big Ten bold predictions for 2026 (Minnesota: Gophers pull off a big upset)

Interesting conversation for me because for a while I’ve had the Huskies winning 8 or 9 games this year. So I’d bet the over at 7.5 and the under at 9.5, but at 8.5 it’s a no bet for me.

The Mountain West is in serious dialogue to add FCS powerhouse North Dakota State as a football-only member starting this coming season

Even if the P4 and G6 separated their post season playoffs, they could still play each other during the regular season. I agree that the G6 wouldn’t be too willing to separate or there would have been much talk about it before now.

The Mountain West is in serious dialogue to add FCS powerhouse North Dakota State as a football-only member starting this coming season

I’ve been touting this for years. The overall difference between the Power conferences and the G’s is huge and with the money difference it’s only going separate more. I would think the G teams would want their own playoff. Maybe they think the tv money isn’t going to be there if they do.

The Athletic: Why the cost of college football roster building won’t slow down anytime soon

If the current pay for play (NIL) structure is kept, eventually some school is going to hit that mark. Just a few years in and there’s talk of $40 million rosters, so we’re not that far off. 2026 Roster costs: 1 Texas Longhorns > $40 million 2 LSU Tigers > $40 million 3 Ohio State...
