STrib: Gophers athletes will have day off from sports Nov. 3 so they can vote

NCAA has now passed it for all Division I athletes to have their opportunity to vote. Hope they participate in the process - as they should - now and for years to come.

Ten top players who have played their last Big Ten snaps (QB Tanner Morgan, Minnesota)

I’m no expert. Having stated the obvious, one enjoyable (yet boring) things during this time is to rewatch games and really focus on plays, players, etc. I’ve come to the conclusion that: 1. Tanner Morgan is the best Gopher QB in my lifetime and 2. He really has NFL ability- particularly...

Wins by Minnesota Starting QBs in history

Gophers went 24-19 in 43 games Khaliq played in. Gophers went 28-19 in 47 games Leidner played in. I believe Leidner had 24 as a starter. Sports-reference.com is good source- game logs , etc. 1959-1961, Gophers went 18-11 (2-7, 8-2, 8-2) Stephen’s’ stats were listed for 1960-1961 (16-4).

Tua’s score was actually a 19 according to subsequent reports. Dan Marino scored a 16 and graduated with a Bachelor of Science in Communication from PITT.

Parts of sports movies that disappointed you

The story of Buddy’s return was part of an additional 2 hours of the movie cut in editing. A few interesting bits from the movie: The guy who welcomes the team to Hinkle Field House and then asks them to take the court was a member of the 1954 Milan basketball team. The PA Announcer in film...

The Gophers are ready to “install windows” and "Grow Higher" in 2020

Chip Kelly referred to watering bamboo while in Oregon. He used 90-110 feet in the 4th year as well when talking about it. Another HC that waters bamboo is - Mark Few - Head Coach at Gonzaga - he has bamboo in their Basketball Office - if I remember correctly.

    Jason Dickson graduating

Couldn’t agree with you more. One thing that’s certain in football and I would argue most sports, is you will play (or be part of a team) for a last game. We can discuss blocking schemes, whether or not he was a gamble / panned out but the kid has earned a degree. That is something that he...

Minnesota to hire Paul Haynes as cornerbacks coach

I personally like hires having Head Coaching experience regardless of W/L record. I think they bring a certain dynamic in that they’ve been in leadership positions before, may have unique or similar experiences to share at the table, and know what did or probably didn’t work in recruiting...

Colorado Unretiring 3 Numbers After Requests From Recruits

I’m for “Ring of Honor” with names and having option for Award Recipients, if underclassmen, option to wear the number the following season as a way of representing the Award. For example, Ibrahim won Paul Giel Award for 2019. As part of winning that reward, give the option of wearing #10. If...
