I obviously have no inside knowledge, but I find it inconceivable that inquiries weren't made to Carle and Western's coach through their agents. I also believe they were told to pound sand - no interest. Carle and Fersch aren't changing college teams. NHL maybe.

All these guys have agents. The discussion is with the agent to see if there's interest. Deniability for coach to say he didn't talk to a suiter while season still going on.

Not that there couldn't be discussions behind the scenes, but clearly nothing would be said until season is over for him.

Again, none of those guys left their alma mater. Just went from 1 D I program to another. Every AD's wet dream is to have a great, successful head coach that is an alum or grew up in the area. It's nearly impossible to pry them away because it's their dream job and everyone makes enough money...

Assume you mean 5 Big 10 wins a season, which is still above 500, which is record territory for us the last 60 years. He's averaged almost 8 wins a season overall since 2020 (taking out Covid year). Not saying Fleck is greatest coach around, but he's been competitive every year with great kids...

I'm sure its happened but I sure can't recall it. When has a coach left their successfil Division I alma mater for another D I school in basketball, hockey or football.
