I disagree a little that our returning guys can't be among our best players. We definitely need to bring in an offensive leader but JCJ and Asuma can be really good players on a tournament team and could easily be the #2 and #3 best guys on the team next year behind a lead dog that comes in...

Think you hit on most of the key areas of need. I break it down like this in terms of the roster. Definite Starters - Asuma and JCJ Key Reserves/Potential starters - Durkin and Grove Probably starters if they return - Willis Bench Guard - Shinholster Incoming Freshman - Anderson, Myopi, Tomes...

In his defense I don't know that he really said anything publicly. Sounds like that info came second or third hand and filtered through the agent. But hey....I am all for anything that makes Wisconsin look bad in any way, and he is a good player so glad he won't be back with the Badgers next year.

BS....players with no eligibility enter the portal.....you can announce anything you want :) still leaves Shinholster.....maybe he is waiting to see who might be coming in before deciding if he is staying.

Interesting that we got the announcements from the 4 players but have not heard anything from guys like Shinholster, Willis and Vaihola. Haven't declared they are going to the portal or that they are coming back. Will be interesting to see how things playout when the portal officially opens...

Yeah, used to be you could look at your squad and fairly accurately project out the next few years but those days are long gone (especially in basketball). I get that some people are just wired to see the glass half empty but there are legit reasons to be excited about the future of the program...

Really tough to know what we have in Shinholster. He showed some flashes but he was also a true freshman being forced to do more then he was probably ready to do based on all of our injuries.

Looking at a few stories my guess is that Kent State is probably trying to get out of paying buyout money or something like that by saying he was fired for something other than only winning 1 game in 2 years.

Yep....what this year showed is Niko has a good eye for guys that fit his system and he was also able to navigate a really tough roster situation and still field a very competitive team. At a bare minimum we should have better luck on the injury front next year and it also seems very likely...

See Rutgers last year.....great athletes but if the mix on the team isn't good they can under preform.
