All Things 2026 Transfer Portal Thread

Lol what? Stirtz was a spectacular floor general, who's a fringe lottery pick. He made their entire offense tick, and literally couldn't rest because it all fell apart when he did. Iowa will have a far bigger adjustment without Stirtz than we will without Reynolds and Tyson, and I say that...

    Gopher-centric Portal Short List

I think there could be value in keeping Willis around, but wasn't the rumor that he was one of the highest-paid players last year? If he was willing to take a cut, heck yeah, keep an older guy who now knows the ins and outs of the system. Didn't he also have two years technically...

    Gopher-centric Portal Short List

Sucks, because I think this guy had so much potential coming in, and I think Niko really liked him as a person and player. That said, this is a business, and I understand why we're moving on. Unless these injured guys were willing to take huge pay cuts, this is the only way in the new era.

    Gopher-centric Portal Short List

We don't need a flamethrower for the Reynolds replacement. Someone who can keep the defense honest would be MASSIVE in preventing them from collapsing in the lane. Love that he has two years, too!

Isn't he undersized, though? I can't imagine a 6'8" center coming off a serious knee injury will be a hot commodity for P5.

All Things 2026 Transfer Portal Thread

Agree. He was the one injured guy I could justify wanting back. He has a wide frame, laid some good screens, and was a good rebounder. I remember watching an interview with him before last season, where he mentioned he had a knee issue that surprised me at the time. He had only recently been...

Shama: It’s believed Medved will have a program high of over $7 million to pay players for next season.

Whatever happened to the clearing house that verified NIL payments were legit and priced appropriately for services rendered, and not “play for pay?”

All Things 2026 Transfer Portal Thread

Just need to ENTER the portal (I just figured this out). Negotiations can extend well beyond two weeks. I'm sure there are many done deals, but the tampering would be too obvious if announced immediately.

All Things 2026 Transfer Portal Thread

It has to be that, right? But with the max exodus at KU, there are productive players bailing, and the fans are super upset about it. It's gotta be a combination of ego and confidence in getting a similar bag, or maybe slightly less, but the "FU" feels better than a few measly $100k.

All Things 2026 Transfer Portal Thread

It's really blowing my mind how many kids are transferring out of these programs. We know there is plenty of money there, and you'd think they'd have more leverage (especially at KU), with so many others leaving. Does money dry up when the guady payroll doesn't meet expectations? Is there...

Yahoo Sports: Grading Gopher Basketball in Medved’s first season

Kinda crazy, but Bobby had way more hype than Tyson coming into the season.

What do the Gophers need in the portal?

Where did he say that? He literally said, "We need an offensive leader." There's also this thing that good coaches often cultivate from their players called "improvement." It tends to happen most drastically in the offseason.

What do the Gophers need in the portal?

I think bringing in Evans and Groves at guard would be very solid and have me very excited. We could very well be a tournament assuming they acclimate to Niko's system (reaclimate for Kyan), But there are still some huge question marks. If you could get those two AND a proven 3-level...

All Things 2026 Transfer Portal Thread

I assume it will be an eventful afternoon for undecided Gophers—still no news on Shinholster, Vaihola, or Willis. The portal is only open for two weeks starting tomorrow, so I assume we will know much more about our roster makeup in the next 24 hours.

    Gophers 2026 Non Conference Schedule

Please, Niko, I beg of you, to get back to 'Richard Pitino' levels of noncon scheduling. We have so much more returning than most teams will have. Let's lean on some continuity for some early big wins!

I am not as familiar with Nolan Groves. I know he kind of blew up late. For those that are... Would rather have: 3 Years of Kai Shinholster or 3 Years of Nolan Groves?

***OFFICIAL MINNESOTA VS BAYLOR COLLEGE BASKETBALL CROWN ELITE 8 IN-GAME THREAD!!!***

If there's a silver lining to playing this game (and getting smacked), it's a final reminder to the staff what elite athleticism looks like. I love the nucleus we have coming back, and I look forward to seeing what gets added once the portal opens up.

Does anyone know off the top of their head whether Baylor has had any key players hit the portal and not be playing in this event?

All Things 2024 Daniel Freitag Recruitment Thread (Gophers Have Offered)

Even if the gamble does pay off in 2026/2027, he'd likely be looking elsewhere for his senior year regardless.
