    Gopher-centric Portal Short List

Kinda feels like with centers you can only pick a couple traits. Size, shot blocking, outside shooting, athletic. Unless you have the money for an NBA prospect. Boden Kapke for example has size and can shoot from outside but doesn’t appear to be a shot blocker (11 total blocks last year). If...

Perfectly stated. He sounds a lot like Cedric Tomes profile, nice to have him as a one year guy at a reasonable price.

19 of Winters Gradys’s 20 field goal attempts last season were three-pointers. Bobby Durkin understudy?

    Gopher-centric Portal Short List

He's just following the Cade Tyson trajectory -- terrible year at UNC, visit MN and IA in April, commit to us in June, fringe NBA prospect this time next year. Edit: Nobody should be upset he is visiting Iowa. Do we want guys who have no competition for their services? Should Kyan Evans be...

    Gopher-centric Portal Short List

Good luck to Willis. I thought he could be a positive for us next year. I assume Kyan Evans is a near certainty. The last gift Hubert Davis can give us after Dawson Garcia and Cade Tyson. I have been surprised at the lack of any reported interest in big men. We have Grove and Mpoyi...and...

I love seeing that FT%, that should translate more seamlessly than any other stat coming up a level. Also worth noting he had a 0.47 FTR. Matas Deniusas is at 0.391 FTR (and a 75% FT shooter). I like FTR as a measure of how well a guy can create his own shot or drive (particularly for...

Guy has played 5 games in the last 3 years. We took him late in the process and he always felt like a gamble. I wonder if he had a new injury here, never healed up, or had some kind of behavior problem since it sounds like he left the team early in the season. It piqued my interest that as a...

I'm sure we have more money than those guys, but it did make me wonder...how often does a team like the Gopher staff value a guy at $500K and a "lesser" program like Richmond offers him $600K and the opportunity to be the focal point of the offense, so they pick the smaller school. I feel good...

Interesting...maybe he is looking for a bigger role if WI/IA/TT are not in the finalists

Yup. Niko gave us reason to trust him last year. I am looking forward to hearing about who he adds but I have no concern at all about falling behind other teams. Last year he thought he had Kyan Evans before UNC came and offered a bag too, so he had to do a major pivot to Chansey Willis which...

Who knows. I don’t really care either way. I just don’t see this as a game of musical chairs that we are losing because we haven’t signed anybody yet. We have no idea what the plan is and who might be getting close to signing. I’m happy to just wait until the dust settles.

Last year: April 1: JCJ April 2: BJ Omot April 7: Bobby Durkin April 10: Rob Vaihola April 13: Langston Reynolds April 14: Chansey Willis April 23: Nehemiah Turner May 9: Chance Stephens June 1: Cade Tyson I looked up last year's thread and Bobby Durkin was not listed as someone we'd contacted...

Matas Deniusas has an interesting game. He can shoot the 3 (46 made at 33%), but he also looks athletic and initates contact on the drive (and shoots FT at 75%). Watching his highlight tape he was finishing several of his drives by powering in a dunk. I gotta imagine the staff is feeding him...

I haven't followed him at all, I'm kinda wondering why he hasn't been able to garner more minutes and scoring opportunities in his career? He has shot 45%, 39%, then 45% from 3PT. Career 77% FT shooter. Decent size at 6'7" 205. Yet he has only played more than 30 minutes 10 times in his career...

Broke into the starting lineup in late December. 24 points on 9/14 (5-7 3PT) in their NCAA matchup against Akron. 77% FT shooter. He made 69 threes on the year at a 37.5% clip so the dude is a gunner (for reference Tyson made 71 and Durkin made 80). Christian Anderson for them averaged 7.4...

Interesting comparison. I was struck by how physical he was at CSU. Those quads too, whew! He had so many dunks. I can see the comp. I am just so excited to have a coach who develops players. Really excited to see who he takes in the portal, and how our team grows next year.

Speaking of a Reynolds replacement, it seems like Nolan Groves is a stylistic fit. He had a free throw rate of 0.571 as a freshman, compared to Langston Reynolds career high 0.476 last year. FTR is how many free throws you attempt per FG attempt. Now Groves also averaged 58% (7/12 on the season)...

I am hoping that Carrington applies for a waiver for an extra year because of his mental health issues. And I want to see the look on Bobloblaw‘s face when he does it.
