I didn't understand why Kruzan was pulled after 4 either...he was pitching well. Lippe's .242 average is 3rd best on entire team in conference play. Ouch. The pitching and defense numbers are encouraging (3rd in WHIP, 4th in BAA)... hopefully some guys can pick it up at the plate.

It is crazy we have lost 14 straight conference games at Siebert Field dating back to last year. MCDevitt changed things up a bit today, but there are maybe 3 regulars who look comfortable at the plate right now. I did not think we would drop 3 straight conference series...but here we are.

Ohio State had two rough errors and walked guys late, and still we couldn't take advantage. We had Ks where we didn't swing the bat, awkward check swings, etc. 3 runs or fewer in 5 of 7 conference games, and it's not as if we have had series against UCLA and USC pitching. Disappointing start...

The slide continues. Morton pitched outstanding for 4 innings, but then Hoosiers erupt for 5 runs on 3 home runs in 5th. Offense again not good. A lot of rough at bats between pop ups and strikeouts. We are left with trying to avoid a sweep and then regrouping at home.

Another tough loss. Offense scores 6 in the first 2 innings...then zilch. Their hitting was better than ours and their bullpen was a bit better than ours tonight. Allen losing the ball in the sun in the 1st was very untimely, but also Selvig was just not good tonight. I thought the biggest...

Big 10 conference announces new format once again for tournament. Ditches the meaningless games issue from pool play last year, but the Friday games in this format could be bloodbaths. Have to see how it plays out, but not sure the prior 8 team double elimination with single title game format...

Only was able to see the first 3 innings. Good to see Whelan pitch again. However, 8 runs in 43 innings going back to the end of the final Gonzaga game - gotta get out of this slump and get the offense going again. Agree that this upcoming series is an important one to win. The three west...

One of those weekends that was just a complete meat grinder at the plate for both teams. Liked the pitching and defense, but needless to say, not enough offense.

Gophers cruise to the win after 3 consecutive 2 out hits plate 5 early. More steady pitching including from the newcomers. Richter had a great night in center. Good to see Hunt with the big 2 run double to open the scoring, then just missed a long home run on the triple. I was surprised to...

How much is the University of Minnesota paying athletes? They refuse to say.

If the U has already stated what specific programs would and would not receive revenue sharing dollars, and also has implied a rough breakdown of the allocations, I don't really see much point in keeping the exact split per program a secret.

A lot to like from that game...a lot of well hit balls early, throwing out a runner trying to steal and turning a double play defensively, Selvig outstanding and Sperry did his thing, aggressive base running...team is playing good baseball right now.

I was thinking this too the other night. There have been too many games past few seasons where opponents weren't making the same errors we were. So far the script has been flipped. The newcomers have been pretty good defensively. I thought Hamilton had a rough start in DeLand, but he has been...

Richter returns to the lineup in a big way with 3 hits and 4 RBIs and the pitching was very solid as Gophers take care of business and win the finale 6-2. UNLV is off to a good start but lost at home to 0-13 Northern Colorado today.

Gophers looked like they were going to cruise up 7-0 after 3, then it was a 3 run game going into the bottom of the 8th, and then Gophers score 7 in the bottom of 8th to run-rule the Panthers, who were very sloppy in field. Dobis pitched solid 3 innings and Ryerse another great outing, and...

    Gopher Softball 2026

I watched the Grand Canyon game from Thursday - it was rough. Besides miscues defensively, I think we could have been given another 7 innings of at bats and not have scored. As it stands now, we don't have a win over a team with a winning record. Our first two home conference series are...

    All Things Gopher Baseball

Tough one today. Kansas gave us some opportunities to tie the game in 7th and 8th, but we couldn't take advantage. Then, things unraveled in the top of the 9th in what had to be one of the longer 4 run half innings in baseball history. Urban pitched well in relief and maybe was just given a...
