I forgot to post this earlier, but in other Gopher baseball alumni news, George Klassen made his MLB debut back in April, making 2 starts for the Angels. I didn't see either game but he walked 5 in each (11.57 ERA), before being sent back to AAA after the second outing. Baseball America listed...

    Gopher Softball 2026

If a change is made, I would think a Big 10 job would attract interest in a sport dominated by the power conferences.

I will admit, off the bat, I thought for a split second that final out in game 2 might be trouble. Nice sweep today - let's get another sweep tomorrow.

Gophers win 12-1 in 7 over the Tommies. Sutherland went beast mode, going 4-4 with 2 HR and 7 RBI, and Hamilton was 3-3 with 2 RBI. Winkleman, Hemmesch, Capamaccio and Kirchhoff on the mound. Gophers finish regular season non-conference play at 19-4. Team might be finding their second wind.

Fantastic response in the 8th. Cole's HR was huge, and Bello absolutely mashed that double to left center. Mosh with grinded out that walk and then the pressure was on and Wildcats derailed. Kruzan really hits his spots. Let's get a home sweep and make it 5 in a row at Siebert!

Really complete win last night. Going back to the last few innings of the series opener against Washington, Gophers have played a bit better overall. On a separate note, the non-conference schedule doesn't look quite as soft now as it perhaps did earlier. Gonzaga has the longest winning...

There was a 2-0 pitch earlier in that inning to the guy that walked that looked like it was all over the plate that was called a ball. Neels did a long pause before throwing it back to Ryerse. Liked the way they competed this weekend, and the pitching and defense held up pretty good, but base...

Gophers roll over Saint Thomas, 24-2. Was a one-run game through 3, before the flood gates opened. Hellum and Quinn get their first hits of year. Starrs sees his first action of the year. Sutherland and Cole went yard. On to Westwood...

I was a bit surprised they didn't move of start time up more (11 or noon), given the forecast. Just seemed like they ended up starting the game before the window of rain. Good to get that win and series, especially with how chippy it got. It actually looked like Hamilton might have been out...

Gophers finally get a Big 10 win at home as they break open a close game with long balls. Jaenke and Capamaccio with good work in relief.

Admittedly I don't know the declaration rule very well, but I don't understand how a review can take that long. That was absolutely absurd.

Gophers fall behind early by 5 but got the bats going in reaching a season high in runs scored. Akin got his first hit as a Gopher. Neels and Sutherland each with 3 hits and combine for 8 RBI. Washington next. Huskies have lost 3 in a row (dropped finale to Valparaiso and then swept in 2...

Hoping for the best for Lippe, but it certainly didn't look good. We have lost our first four series - three to teams with losing conference records, we can't win any conference games at home, and our two toughest series remain ahead. This season is getting long real fast.

Their pitcher didn't exactly have dominating stuff, and still we looked feeble. The couple times they mentioned velocity on the broadcast, one was 85 down the middle Lippe took for strike 3, and Bello was very late on a full-count 87mph fastball in the upper third of zone he got a piece of. I...

The Athletic: Why the cost of college football roster building won’t slow down anytime soon

I agree with @GopherGrit and have a tough time imagining a $100 million dollar roster anytime soon. The revenue sharing cap for 2027 will be ~22.17 million. I don't think it will increase dramatically for 2028 when reevaluated. Also, some of these schools have Alston payment and new...

Gophers get back into the win column. Walks were a big story, as Iowa pitchers walked 10 and Gopher pitchers walked 0. Selvig was allowed to pitch through a jam in the 7th. Sperry with 2 scoreless innings in relief. Some good at bats with runners on today, and some nice plays in infield...
