    Gopher-centric Portal Short List

Well, sure! But Bruns would cost a lot more. Who knows what we have left.

I did too. I think he was hurt in the last part off the season so that may have diminished his value.

Kyan Evans Commits to the Gophers!

I'm old too and I agree that we need bangers. We need to get more offensive rebounds so we can get more shots at the bucket on possessions. We were outrebounded by 4.5 boards per game in conference games.

He seemed to lose confidence in his shot as the season wore on. He kept playing hard, especially on the defensive end. I hope he stays for another year anyway. I don't see the point of replacing him with different player who is further down on the rotation.

    Gopher-centric Portal Short List

Given that we were losing a lot of points between Tyson and Reynolds, I thought of him about a month ago as a potential top transfer prospect but then I saw that he was hurt (I assumed he was anyway since he didn't play after mid-January). I figured that Niko would want to avoid that like the...

    Gopher-centric Portal Short List

I've spent countless numbers of hours over the last decade pouring over player records on College Basketball at Sports Reference. If you haven't done that, you might be surprised by how many Top 100 players coming out of high school didn't do much in college. Groves wasn't even Top 100. He...

Kyan Evans Commits to the Gophers!

You could be right given that he's way bigger than anyone else and he doesn't have the stiffest competition to beat.

Kyan Evans Commits to the Gophers!

That's about one more year than Hakeem Olajuwan had when he showed up at the University of Houston. Now, of course Hakeem was one of the all-time greats and one can't expect that to translate across lesser mortals but it's not out of the question that Kordel could be ready sooner.

Kyan Evans Commits to the Gophers!

I was counting Shinholster because he's still on the roster as of now. If he's going to leave, he has only days to do so.

Kyan Evans Commits to the Gophers!

If they grab another player, I think it should be in the frontcourt. There are only four of them (JCJ, Grove, Kordel, and an incoming freshman).

Kyan Evans Commits to the Gophers!

I agree he likely starts but why do you think he would displace Durkin?

Kyan Evans Commits to the Gophers!

This is the 12th player added to the roster. I'd say one more at most from the portal.

He played 13 minutes in that game and had three fouls, one rebound, and missed both of his shots. Shinholster had some really nice defensive moments this season. Maybe somebody should put together a video compilation of those and someone could watch it and say that he should have been defensive...

    Gopher-centric Portal Short List

My concern is that we're leaning heavily on faith here with our first three commits as they're all freshmen who have shown next to nothing in college so far. Then, our most coveted remaining portal player is someone who has been only average at best in his first three years. OK, he knows the...

    Gopher-centric Portal Short List

I have to admit that I don't understand the collective desire and angst over the plans of a guy who has topped out at 10.6 pts per game and a Player Efficiency Rating of 15.3 (about average) in his career so far. What I think must be driving this is that so many people here watched that NCAA...

    Malick Kordel Commits

Mara is in the portal too. Just entered recently. CORRECTION! Dynes (USC) is in the portal. I confused the tall trees. Sorry about that.

    Malick Kordel Commits

We have 11 so far if everyone shows. I can't imagine more than two more and maybe just one. I'd say point is #1 but, yeah, we could use another big even if it's just a bencher.

    Malick Kordel Commits

Well, as mentioned above, he's 22 years old. Remember, a lot of these European guys have played multiple years in professional leagues overseas. Still, right now we will have at least 8 players who are either freshmen or sophomores on the team next season (assuming all the freshman arrive)...
