Your favorite bits of Gopher lore or obscure details

Thanks for jogging my memory - I do recall it being like that now, with the FG last. Like I said, getting old. As for the tears, I used to be on a husker board so reading it the next day was great.

I could be remembering wrong as I approach 50, but wasn't it the other way around? I thought the FG was first, then we went for it on 4th because we had to. If we were down by 2 scores on that 4th down, pretty sure we kick the FG first. Nonetheless, great memory. Wasn't that Rhule's first...

I think it was "slash and bash" with the idea one of them would pound you while the other was elusive. I think Rodney was "slash" and Shannon was "bash".

I was going to say the same. "very good" is fine with me.

Medved: I may be unpopular by saying this, but I feel like at some point we’re going to have to get to some sort of collectively bargained model.

Not so sure. I could see the boosters who were paying under the table before saying something like, "hey, if you can pay them why can't we?". I'd think the NCAA's side of the argument before the Supreme Court would have thus been weaker. I don't blame the NCAA. When you have boosters year...

ACC crawls back to Big Ten even after failed Alliance — and calls it survival | Opinion

Not me. Plus, it's not like "the bitching" just cancels things out and makes things even again, like we didn't just trade one bad thing for another bad thing. I think that's it. This is going towards something you are already familiar with and liked. You're ignoring the group of fans that...

Consider the financial panic from 2020 when universities thought they might miss out on a season's worth of football revenue. They have zero leverage. But besides that, define "football conferences". If the B1G was in favor of a lockout, do you think the SEC would really follow suit when the...

Barry Alvarez must be shaking his head at the program now. Imagine that 1999 team with Ron Dayne, how punishing they'd be to these smaller/faster linebackers nowadays.

Was she the one who came up with the nicknames "Slash and Bash" or "Twin Cities Train"?

In an important case for NIL enforcement, an arbitrator upheld a CSC decision denying 18 Nebraska players' deals worth millions of dollars.

Honest question for you. Since they will be changing the language of the contract to make it in line with what's required for NIL contracts, if you were on the jury, how would you justify voiding one NIL deal and not another if you're ignoring the language in the contract? (I mentioned...

Lemme guess, you have an issue with how their o-line blocks too, right?

True, but that's a consequence they'd have to live with. It's better than screwing up some athlete's plans like this, especially when it's just random who they start with. For all we know, they could be halfway into the season and then start complaining about our NIL deals, while not getting...

In an important case for NIL enforcement, an arbitrator upheld a CSC decision denying 18 Nebraska players' deals worth millions of dollars.

I don't think the timing is fair to the players though. I'd assume these athletes had other schools interested in them but now all rosters are full, so without the ability to reword the contract they'd out a season's worth of earnings. This agency or whatever should have like a 24 hour window...

Yes, this. I can't envision any scenario where you could even begin. The opposite side of the table (athletes) have no incentive and the schools, or conferences, or NCAA have no position of strength to negotiate from. NFL/NBA etc. owners can threaten a lock out because they have the finances...

Drake incident poll. What's your opinion?

No disrespect meant, but I don't think you can apply your experience from high school coaching so many years in the past to dealing with professional athletes on a college team in 2026.
