Big Ten details 24-team CFP plan with no league title games

Some think those big two will eventually just leave the NCAA and do their own thing. There is some idea that antitrust lawsuits against such a breakaway won't legally work anymore, because (unlike the NCAA) such conference would not have a monopoly over college athletics.

Inside the re-making of Fernando Mendoza from shaky starter to 2026 NFL first-rounder

If Cignetti's staff turned Mendoza into a Heisman winner, then they would have done the same thing with Rourke in 2024.

Possible Head Coach Candidates for Northern Illinois (Jerry Kill, Vanderbilt)

If Kill genuinely was interested in the job and genuinely was healthy in terms of energy to give the job what it needs ... absolutely NIU would be interested. He stepped down from NMSU in 2023 saying things like he had given all he had physically, mentally and emotionally to the team and felt...

The Mountain West is in serious dialogue to add FCS powerhouse North Dakota State as a football-only member starting this coming season

Lot of interesting discussion (to me) on Fargodome, and if NDSU fans will care about the current Mountain West teams any more than they care about non-MonDak teams in Missouri Valley (I know Montana's aren't in MVFC, I'm just saying they would get great attendance in the Fargodome). In the near...

The Mountain West is in serious dialogue to add FCS powerhouse North Dakota State as a football-only member starting this coming season

You'll never convince me that NDSU could not have threatened to sue the NCAA and succeed, then being allowed to move up to FBS as an Independent at a similar time as Liberty was allowed to. Doing so would have been free, they could have played FBS since then, probably playing in and winning...

Only an Iowa fan could work the Cooper DeJean non-fair-catch argument into his obituary.

ESPN: Source: Cignetti's salary now averages $13.2M through 2033

Was he not already the highest paid IU (football) ever at $11M per year? Already far more money than he could ever spend in a place like Bloomington Indiana. Were they actually worried that some other school with come in with an offer greater than $11M per year but unable to top $13M per year...

    I’m a fleck guy but

If this means it will take Indiana another 138 years to win its next natty, that is a good thing.

Only an Iowa fan could work the Cooper DeJean non-fair-catch argument into his obituary.

The obit is claiming DeJean didn't actually make any signal at all that was significant enough to be recognized as valid or invalid, and therefore the refs were false in calling an invalid signal. That lifting is done by the "in no way" language. I think most people who aren't Iowa fans...

    I’m a fleck guy but

I think 2021-23 were all missed opportunities in the weak West. Each year we lost games that we should have won, which cost us a chance at something better and/or the division title. Now that's gone and a marginally to signifiantly more difficult schedule is likely in place each year. For...

All Things 2026 Minnesota Vikings Off-Season Thread

I've never heard anyone describe Murray as an accurate passer, and certainly not a pocket passer as KOC's offense demands. I'm surprised by the 68% in five games in 2025 ... but then the rating was only 88.6. That tells me he his accuracy is being inflated with short passes. There are some...

BYU WR Kingston charged with 1st degree felony rape

Agree nothing is a done deal. Wild guess is they do a plea deal. But if he wants it, he'll get his day in court. Guessing he wants to get this behind him as fast as possible and try to transfer to another team for this upcoming fall, assuming he's not in prison.

BYU WR Kingston charged with 1st degree felony rape

It's not he said, she said. This incident happened back in Feb 2025. They've been gathering evidence since then and only just now did an arrest and brought charges, with a judge agreeing. Obviously we haven't heard his side yet ... but what is he going to say?? He's going to say she's lying...

All Things 2026 Minnesota Vikings Off-Season Thread

Agree on Mac Jones and it was an interesting point brought up that I hadn't heard before, that for nothing $1M there really is no incentive to get rid of him unless they get a king's ransom. Then they can bring in Cousins to be the backup (although for significantly more money). We should just...

Hard no on Murray. Terrible fit for KOC offense. And he's the exact same thing as McCarthy. Inaccurate passer who runs around and gets hurt. No

Big Ten details 24-team CFP plan with no league title games

I didn't follow what you're saying here. I'm guessing what they're trying to pigeonhole into the expansion is that whatever the Big Ten's share of the new (16 or 24 team) expanded playoff payout will be, needs to offset the loss of the Big Ten champ game from their own TV contract.

    Fleck Signs New Contract!

The scary thing about this is that Rutgers, Purdue, and Mich State all easily could have been losses. Meaning that, I'm worried we used up a lot of karma to pull those wins out. As was discussed to death during the season, was also really wild how stark the difference in opponent quality was...

Big Ten details 24-team CFP plan with no league title games

That's sad that playoff games would have less TV value that meaningless conf championship games. I'm sure ratings for Ohio State vs IU last year didn't do any favors to those, like me, who want to get rid of them, especially since they hadn't played, it was 1 v 2 and probably was going to stay...

All Things 2026 Minnesota Vikings Off-Season Thread

It proves that it's a contrived, fabricated way to measure "success". In only 3 seasons, if things fall perfectly, you can have 18-24 different franchises win playoff games. Three years. Whoopty doo
