All Things Immaculate Grid-related (MLB, NBA, NFL)

It always humors me when we have the same players on the Grid together-I used Gaetti and Punto in the same slots as you. I was able to add Newbies in Alan Roden and Edouard Julien in the Twins column, along with a 1988 Topps podcast featured guy in Wallace Johnson (surprise, suprise, it was a...

From Eric Stephen’s BlueSky account: MLB's final four has been set, aka the Henry Blanco gauntlet, named for the only player to play for the Dodgers, Brewers, Blue Jays, and Mariners

He didn't do much for the Twins this year, but for Grid purposes I am very glad I was introduced to Jose Urena this year--with his five teams this year, he's up to 11 teams overall, including the Marlins and Rockies, which are always vexing. He was my sub 1% square for Marlins-Rangers...

Paul Giel and Bud Grant would have valid arguments to the "best athlete ever at the U".

Movies: Best Opening Scene Far Superior To The Rest of the Film

So, I love the whole movie, but I have friends that complain about it devolving from a comedy of debauchery to a rom-com, which I can see the argument. But the opening 10-15 minutes of Wedding Crashers is gold.

I saw it in the movie theater and went in with pretty low expectations, and had a good time with it. Certainly didn’t measure up to the original, but there were a couple scenes that had me laughing out loud and yeah, the plot line was ridiculous, but that was to be expected. It was nice being in...

    Movies Everyone Has Seen-Except You

Off the top of my head, I think I would place Kill Bill, Vol. 1, Inglorious Basterds, and Once Upon a Time in Hollywood above Pulp Fiction, but PF's impact, upon release and until now, on cinema was revolutionary. And those two movies were released a week after Quiz Show, which too often gets...

All Things Immaculate Grid-related (MLB, NBA, NFL)

The 1988 Topps podcast paid off today, as I was able to utilize Porfi Altamarino in the Phillies/Cubs square, knowledge only delivered to me by the recent segment on Keith Moreland, as Porfi was involved in a trade for/with (can't quite recall) Moreland. Btw, it's a nice little podcast-once a...

I'll see your Ripper, and raise you with Baby Doll Jacobson (he works for a slew of AL squads: Orioles, Athletics, Guardians, Tigers, and Red Sox): From Wikipedia: On opening day of the 1912 season, the band began playing the popular song, "Oh, You Beautiful Doll", as Jacobson came to the plate...

That's how they were able to move up a few years ago to get Walker Jenkins at #5. Hopefully they can slide up a spot, as the buzz on the shortstop from UCLA sounds like a can't miss'er.

Just got home from the movie, and what a corker of a movie-I had little background on the movie going in, but did those almost three hours fly by-DiCaprio was masterfully comedic and tender, Penn should clear some shelf space for best supporting actor and Del Toro was brilliant as always. The...

    Interesting baseball stats

In several different ways, the 2025 Twins have been historic (none of it good). I'm compiling a list to be shared out after game 162 and this will be added onto the list, thank you.

ABC suspends Jimmy Kimmel’s late-night show indefinitely over his remarks about Charlie Kirk’s death

Huh? You buying what Disney is selling here? Cancellations for all things Disney (Disney+, cruises, visits, etc.) surprised the monolith along with the overall negative feedback caused a side to capitulate here--and I'm pretty sure it wasn't Kimmel, although I guess the proof will be in the...

Probably common knowledge among others, but I realized today that Bert Blyleven is one of only two HOFers who wasn’t born in the Americas and the first to be elected to the Hall (Ichiro of course being the other).

Seen it bouncing around the streaming services here, I will make sure to watch when it’s available again. As you said, I can’t ever recall going wrong with a Michael Keaton movie.

We watched Wicked Little Letters tonight and I haven’t enjoyed a movie as much in some time. Funny, bawdy, thoughtful and with a dash of intrigue. Olivia Colman and Jessie Buckley were both wonderful in sparring roles.

Ope, this is a belated tip of the cap to you-earlier this week in the category of 2000+ hits/30 SB's, Clyde Milan was my man, assisting in my climb towards 1600 unique players, with a smooth .004% rarity score.

Again, the committee had a blatant oversight with the omission of "Senor Smoke" (the committee's attempt to procure this list hunched over the computer while wolfing down their lunch at work speaks to the limitations of multi-tasking). The committee doesn't feel they should bump anyone from the...
