Updated AP Top 25 rankings - Nebraska #23

Those are two very impressively bad statistics. Not to be able to score, even a FG if you’re on offense first, in 8 OT games…and I had to do the math, it’s 8 years since beating a ranked team. It’s also 25 years since their last conference championship.

This Iowa game is a BFG

This year is probably the time to assess Bielema’s program building, his 4th year in Illinois which is starting out quite good so far. Northwestern’s very green staff did outcoach PJ last year and Braun won COY. So there is some objective evidence though it needs to be sustained.

This Iowa game is a BFG

Michigan is terrible with no QB, and may prove to be one of the biggest one year dropoffs for a national champ in a while (it’s not inconceivable they could struggle to bowl eligibility). Iowa is average with below average QB. Wisconsin is below average and lost their average QB. Gophs could...

Altmyer is a 4th year, Raiola a true frosh - the compliments are mostly how good Raiola looked for his level of experience.

They live and die by McCord. He played great 90% of the time but had a pick six and a bad INT that resulted directly in a FG, so 10 point swing. Despite that they should have won but for the horrible D called on the last 4th down - Cuse rushed 3 but left single coverage the entire side of the...

Post Game Thread: Gophers Crush Rhode Island

I mean, I didn’t even know Rhode Island had a college football team above DIII. I wouldn’t get too excited.

Must be talking about an MRI. An x ray of a hamstring is not going to show much.

    B1G schools recruiting classes ranked

40th is inflated at this point with 22 recruits already. Programs that fill later which are below 40th, but will certainly leapfrog the Gophers (assuming Gophers are nearly full) - Ole Miss, Florida, UNC, Utah, possibly MSU, possibly Iowa/Illinois depending on how much their crooting picks up...

CBS: Big Ten stadium rankings (10. Minnesota - Huntington Bank Stadium)

By far the most convenient to a major hub airport by distance and public transit, even considering the new members.

Emmanuel Karmo closes recruitment. Cancels visits at other schools.

Exactly as you said, that is a somewhat outdated take after the last few years of NIL. Why would he go to the trouble of making up a graphic to tweet out his upcoming visits to the whole world, then like a day later say he’s shutting down his recruitment without taking any of those visits? What...

Max Brosmer: Love this team! Proud of the strides that we have made this spring, but lots of work left to be done… THE CHASE!

I think a lot more teams will beat Iowa and Wisconsin this year, so…good for trophies but not like when the games meant something like deciding control of the West.

    Nebraska Spring Game

Nebraska is undefeated and getting votes going into every season. They may be better off not playing any games because the last several years it’s all downhill from the opening kickoff.

Gophers football coach P.J. Fleck lists 'resort-style' Edina home for $3.9 million

Conspiracy theory - he’s selling properties to fund NIL under the table. In seriousness though how do you go from pleading on the radio about how poor the NIL fund is, to landing 4-5* transfers from LSU, Clemson and Georgia all in a few months and coming off a sub .500 season?

Gophers tied for third in all CFB for bowl wins since 2014.

Definitely a contributing factor, a consolation prize for being jumped is an easier win. OTOH, we usually feel Wisky unfairly jumps to a higher bid but they have the most wins in the B1G.

The Deion Sanders effect: Colorado sees record number of applications, including 50% spike from Black students

So different than a generation ago when I went to college and we didnt think much of the SEC schools’ academic standards. Obviously these state flagships have always had their areas of academic strength and honors programs and such. But now they are “highly selective” for all, and recruiting...

RandBall: Pessimism? Nah. Now the best Gophers teams can compete in College Football Playoff

Certainly a reasonable take to have this optimism. The playoff expansion is the only thing that keeps alive the hope of national relevance for the bottom 2/3 “new Big Ten” teams. Would be actually much better to be ranked #12 (even if that is 3rd place in B1G) and in a playoff game instead of...
