Because it is all speculation. I think it feeds on itself...a site or two will "value" a player and that then becomes the number. Why doesn't the collective verify the numbers? Burns from DTA has said multiple times they keep the numbers very close to the vest.

My guess is they actually offered him less NIL after the bowl game and he said he wanted to test the market, and Fleck said OK, but this offer might not be there because we have other opportunities to pursue. Just a thought based on the timing.

There was a study a few years ago that showed only about half end up with scholarships at the new school at the same level, around a quarter drop down (G5, FCS, etc) and the rest don't show that they ended up at another program. I wonder if those numbers have changed.

I also have to believe players really like Cignetti. Externally he is perceived as a bit of an ahole, but I'll bet internally with the players he has high expectations, but also understands how to develop and rally them individually and together to meet or exceed those expectations.

My educated guess is that streaming consolidation will coalesce around Prime, Netflix, and YouTube. Two of those three have deep pockets and diverse content.
