Absolutely agree for D1. It’s professional. The awareness of true amateur football in D3/D2 is growing due to easy streaming and with the playoffs on ESPN, although the portal/NIL still makes it tough for the lower levels to keep young All American-level talent.

UWRF may have been bad prior to COVID but they’ve been tough since then and challenging for the WIAC. Tonight’s game was not a fluke either. I saw UWRF dominate national power UMHB a couple years ago and it wasn’t close. They’ve been knocking at the door and blew it open tonight!

Wow. Warren had a 96 247 Rating (high 4-star) coming out of HS. Same rating as Perich. I sure hope he can meet his physical potential and be another Faalele.

Looks like he was stuck behind an All Conference 3rd year left tackle (Heard) while two other 1st and 2nd year players at right tackle got more playing time this year. Let's hope a fresh start helps elevate him!

My gut says MN is being cordial and taking any new donation considerations for Perich (doubtful) but more heavily eyeing what kind of high impact replacements are availability with those big dollars.

This is a promising way to NIL success for the Gophs IMO. True marketing NIL. Sustainable. Potentially highly scaleable. Teams in metro areas with good local consumer brands could actually have an advantage.

Just a thought, Iowa State basically has their whole defensive backfield in the portal. Some are highly rated. It seems worth pursuing.

I was hoping he’d stay 3 years before going NFL while knowing he might be using the Gophs to get playing time early before jumping. He would have been gone by next season at the latest. Gophs got two good years. I enjoyed them.
