The Vikings OL has been poor and held back the Vikings for 5+ years across many different QBs. Max wouldn't look good in the NFL in any setting but he would certainly look better with time to throw, although if the OL was better maybe JJ doesn't get hurt and Max never plays.

Max can't catch a break, he's made more than his share of mistakes but he isn't getting any help from receivers or the line.

I don't love hiring alumni or guys with previous ties to Fleck or the program because it's easy to overlook their flaws when you're rooting for them.
