Hey legal guys, please weigh in on Darian Mensah

Apologies that I don't quite follow what you're getting at here, but Duke went on record saying they worded the contract like that because they were afraid if they had instead put a buyout clause with a price of say $3M that some school like Miami would just come along and say "Pfft, I keep that...

I know you all hate Coyle but

So what did we decide? Coyle is due a nice pat on the back for not overspending the hefty checks that the Big Ten conference is giving Minnesota simply because they believe -- for now -- that every conference team deserves an equal share of league TV revenue? If he did overspend ... and that...

    I’m a fleck guy but

Keeping in mind that the "extra" five games you're quoting here to get to 40 is because of five meaningless bowl wins. Yep, they're wins. Just like beating Northwestern State and Eastern Illinois are wins. Practically .... let's say it really was 40 regular season wins over 2021-25, so 8 per...

    I’m a fleck guy but

I never said anything like SEC is right and Gophers are wrong. I agree 100% that the SEC has been worse at scheduling P4 teams than the Big Ten. That said, the SEC is surging ahead with its mandate that all conference teams must schedule 10 P4 games going forward. The Big Ten must respond in...

The game winning throw -- don't get me wrong, amazing catch as well -- against Penn State never happens if it's Rourke.

Now the real thing is Miami cheating. Not just tampering ... but they're going to (try to) cheat the rules saying that their buyout has to count against next year's rev share cap.

OK? So? Duke said they did that because they were afraid if they put in a real number for a buyout clause .... that exactly what happened, would happen. And it happened anyway. BUT, the kid at Washington didn't get to leave. So, there's some hope that we can slap down these absurd athletes...

    I’m a fleck guy but

Let's try it this way, trying to aim it back at the OP: does anyone here feel that great that Fleck has averaged 7 regular season wins over 2021-2025 seasons?

    I’m a fleck guy but

The slightly more correct thing: all the teams listed likely have very similar percentage of P4 teams played. That's probably reasonable. It does not prove a SOS though, no more than saying "all NFL teams play 100% other NFL teams" does. Yes, It's on my to go calculate it. Apologies that I...

Hey legal guys, please weigh in on Darian Mensah

I like your post here. The second paragraph I think is just plainly true, and it's very similar to things I've said. Especially for some FCS and most DII, DIII level NCAA schools. They'll drop varsity athletics before they'll comply with making varsity athletes (full-time, as they would have to...

Bold: the words of your statement are true, so long as you acknowledge that "routinely" actually means that the NCAA is batting around 0.500 lately, which is true. It's not at all a thing where the NCAA is getting blown out of the water. They're losing some for sure, but also winning some.

I doubt they're available to look up, I'd have to write the python code from the dataset. Too lazy and not enough time. Otherwise I would :)

Revenue share: stop feeding the football furnace

The Big East only gives its teams a paltry amount per year compared to the Big Ten. Our report said we got $63M from the Big Ten for the 2024-25 fiscal year. I'm guessing that's up to $80+M for this year and may be on the way up to nine figures. Does the Big East even give $10M per school? I...

    I’m a fleck guy but

I'm not sure it's really that interesting that over half of the 73 wins against teams that average fewer than 3 P4 wins per year. I made that up .... but it's definitely believable. What's the real number? And how do our peer programs in the Big Ten do?

    I’m a fleck guy but

Should only get to count wins against P4, and then should also have a number next to it about the average number of P4 wins of those opponents (ie. a SOS metric). Counting "wins" against Northwestern State and Eastern Illinois types programs? 🤮

I know you all hate Coyle but

Why does Coyle get credit for the Big Ten signing a larger TV deal and then giving equal shares of that to every conference team (except Wash/Oregon I believe, for now) ?? I don't think that has a single thing to do with Coyle?

All Things 2026 Minnesota Vikings Off-Season Thread

The OL collapsed the last two games. They were terrible. So bad in fact that Bradbury, Ingram, and firmer interior starter Ezra Cleveland were starting this year for playoff teams and Bradbury will be starting in the Super Bowl. Nevertheless, Darnold held the ball so long that he was sacked...

KOC's playcalling was so bad during the 2024 season ..... that the Vikings won 14 games with Darnold. 🤡🤡🤡

Revenue share: stop feeding the football furnace

Have you considered that the bulk of the money that pays for the revenue sharing is coming from additional TV revenue from the Big Ten conference, and the conference is simply not going to allow any of its schools to "tank" their football programs in the way you're suggesting? For all we know...

Because with Mendoza they beat @ Iowa by 5, @ Oregon by 10, and @ Penn State by 3. Without the Heisman winner, they lose those three games. It's really not rocket science.
