    Defensive Line Coach let go

We were counting on some transfers to play key roles and they were either busts or never saw the field due to injuries. Bad depth, especially at DT, can wreck a group over the course of a season. Doesn't matter how talented you are at DE with Smith, Howard, Menz. Whatever the case was, our...

Official 2026 Roster Movement Thread - Who's In and Who's Out?

Someone correct me if I'm wrong, but it sounds like our transfer NIL checkbook is very slim, most of the NIL is reserved for recruits. If that's the case, it will be tough to recreate 2019 with guys like St. Juste and Williamson.

Official 2026 Roster Movement Thread - Who's In and Who's Out?

I've heard that Nuke Hayes is the most dynamic WR after the catch the Gophers have and it isn't close. The battle this spring/summer will be fascinating between Smith, Tracy, Coleman, Hayes, and the young guys. I think Coleman might come out on top with another offseason in the weight room.

It’s Official; Gophers play New Mexico in Rate Bowl

Yikes, this thread. It's like two bums yelling at each other over the stall at Applebees in Forest Lake

Who should be in the 12 team playoffs?

This is it. Notre Dame lost a close game in August to a playoff team. They then looked like one of the best teams in the country the rest of the year. Bama lost to a terrible FSU team, and while they had a good run against good teams, they also had close games against bad teams and then got...

Who should be in the 12 team playoffs?

It will be very interesting if the two teams that play in the title game are two who've had first round home games (similar to OSU/ND last year, also Texas had a home game last year too) I know PJ hates momentum but there's a reason other coaches love it. It works. Also, I think everything TAMU...

Who should be in the 12 team playoffs?

Agreed 100%. I said it above but the fact that we had an entire CFB season and one of the playoff games is a rematch of Ole Miss vs Tulane (was 45-10 before) at home, is absurd. Complete waste of everyone's time and we might as well just given Ole Miss a bye week.

Who should be in the 12 team playoffs?

    - Notre Dame should have been in over Bama. ND is one of the best teams in the country right now and they were shafted. - Bama getting in is entirely due to the incestuous ESPN-SEC relationship going back to late 2000's when they signed their TV deal. - Auto qualifiers for JMU and Tulane is a...

Is 2025 when College Bowls Die?

The reality is that bowls died the minute the playoff era began. It was playoffs or bust. Also, with the portal now, if you aren't contending for the playoff, a big % of your roster is mentally checked out by December. Bowls are turning into a glorified scrimmage for coaches to play their...

    Gophers vs. the SEC

Miss State is unique, they play a very diverse non-conf schedule for an SEC team. They've recently played at BYU, Arizona, and UMass of all places. Would have been fun to play them with Mike Leach. RIP. This might be the most unappealing P5 non-conf destination in years for traveling Gopher...

    NDSU goes down

Illinois State played NDSU in the FCS Natty a decade ago. They aren't always elite but they are one of those FCS teams that will randomly have a bunch of talent on it due to transfers and such

PJ Fleck press conference on signing day.

    Danny Collins

What's weird in PJ's case is that he's a former WR, and clearly loves the position, but his good buddy Matt Simon runs that room so PJ isn't really hands on with scheme (maybe he is) I think most HC's are CEO's, though. The issue at Minnesota is that all of our coordinators leave so the young...

Is Emmett Johnson biggest miss ever

Nope, I don't think so, but he is an interesting case nonetheless. He was undersized coming out of Holy Angels with a very slim offer list. I think he's good but I don't think he's better than a healthy (pre-injuries) Darius Taylor or Mo Ibrahim. That being said, he's the type of kid that PJ...

    Who walks on Saturday?

It makes it hard to enjoy the game. Agreed about the hard cap, but there's no way the blue bloods allow that. The reality is we're probably headed towards a "super league" and then everyone else.
