So what’s next? What Bowl Game we thinking?

Obviously anything can happen — and we’ve seen that PLENTY as MN fans — but the B1G has tried REALLY hard to avoid repeat bowl appearances since changing their placement system in 2013-2014. Because of that, I just see no way MN or Rutgers ends up in NYC when helmet schools Michigan and...

Luke Fickell's Badgers have yet to beat a team as good as the 2024 Minnesota Golden Gophers

Wow, I didn’t notice this yesterday amidst the game day threads, but that stat is shocking. 0-10 (now) against FPI top 50 teams?! Forget ranked wins — Fickell is looking for a top 50 win still.

Dang missed this during my Thanksgiving travels. Oh well, here’s the games that haven’t occurred: Rutgers Scarlet Knights Notre Dame Fighting Irish Iowa State Cyclones Boston College Eagles

So what’s next? What Bowl Game we thinking?

Some wrenches could still be thrown in the mix tomorrow, but Nebraska losing tonight all but seals up Iowa to Tampa IMO. They’ve not played there for a long while and finished 8-4 (6-3). Still looking like Nashville or Mayo for Minnesota. I think Nebraska will get shipped to Phoenix with that...

    Serious conversation

Agreed. I’m sorry, but if Indiana can run through a weak schedule and make the playoffs, MN can catch a break one of these years. They’re heading in the right direction on O, have been a great defensive program for the most part for 5+ years, apparently have a solid NIL collective, and have...

    Serious conversation

@upnorthkid posted a great breakdown of returning defensive talent above and I agree. Don’t forget Eastern who’s a monster inside. They’ll really miss Joyner and Striggow at Edge though. I’m more worried on O. Obviously have Taylor back. They have some talent at WR, but we haven’t seen much...

What grade would you give Gophers coaches in loss to PSU?

Agree with most: Solid B. Second most points scored on PSU in conference play - including more than OSU. Defense held two incredible RBs under 100 yards when they’d been averaging 200. STs by far the best game of the year IMO (minus the fake punt…argh). Two blocked kicks, perfect on FGs/XPs...

    Bowl question

I forgot about APR. So Wisconsin can have Detroit this year :-) If things go as expected next weekend, you’ve probably got: Citrus: Illinois Reliaquest: Iowa Music City: I’ll say Minnesota. Hasn’t been forever and would be the next best team by conference record at 5-4. Mayo: Rutgers. Closest...

Post Game Thread: Gophers lose heartbreaker to PSU

I’m sad about the huge missed opportunity, but how can you not be super proud of the effort? Anyone who says MN was outcoached is emotionally immature or a troll. Of course I’m disappointed about the fake punt, but the fact you had the #4 team in the country feeling like they had to do that or...

    Senior Memories

I thought Jah was out of eligibility, but either way he’s 100% gone IMO. I was surprised he came back this year honestly. Edge rushers are so coveted in the NFL and he’s going to make a TON of money. Awesome video, by the way. Lotta great memories for that group including multiple wins against...

    Bowl question

Iowa and Illinois are likely to win out and land in the Citrus and Reliquest IMO. Iowa hasn’t played in Tampa forever and is obviously known to travel extremely well. That leaves MN, Rutgers, Mich, and one of Wisconsin/Neb for Music City, Mayo, Pinstripe, and Phoenix. If both Wisconsin and...

    Huge injury news for Rutgers.

Anything can happen in a B1G road game and Rutgers had the bye week to prepare, but I’m feeling really good about MN coasting to victory late in this one. RU has so many injuries, MN is health and playing fierce on D, and the O is running the ball better the last couple weeks.

Best Rivalry Trophy in the BIG per the Athletic.

If you know about the untimely death of Kelly Leeks, the Curse of the Stein, and China Gopher’s assailant taking a chair leg to the eye socket, you’ve been around this board for a loooong time, lol.

***OFFICIAL MINNESOTA AT RUTGERS "THIS GAME IS PERSONAL" QB BATTLE IN-GAME THREAD!!!***

Same. Vegas must’ve already known. Still, I jumped on MN -6 early in the week and feel great about it.

Souhan: The Gophers were spiraling, and now this is one of P.J. Fleck’s best seasons

We won’t be able to judge the season until it’s over, of course, but anyone who doesn’t think this has been an impressive coaching performance by Fleck and co needs their head examined. This season could’ve easily spiraled, but instead the team has improved almost every week. Have they beat a...

    USC = the new Nebraska?

Wow, I don’t follow stats closely, but is Moss really the main problem for them? Seems to me their D is still subpar, and while they run the ball well, they frequently go away from it too often (as was the case against MN).

Music City Bowl (Nashville) VS Duke's Mayo Bowl (Charlotte)

Nashville for sure over Charlotte, but I’d likely consider either. Agree with others that Tampa or Orlando would be preferable to both, mostly for level of opponent, but also weather and national reputation. Regardless of outcome, 1 or 2 more wins will really have MN in an attractive bowl...
