I want this for Minnesota football

Laying an egg = playing down to or below a team of lesser talent and losing. Any team is capable of doing this regardless of talent level.

I want this for Minnesota football

2021 Bowling Green, 2021 Illinois, 2022 Purdue, 2023 Northwestern, 2024 North Carolina, 2024 Rutgers, 2025 Cal, and I’d even argue this years blow out was an inexplicable bad loss due to how badly they got beat. Outside of that 2023 Northwestern game, because that season was a down year...

I want this for Minnesota football

I think the yearly inexplicable bad loss is what really holds the program back. It hurts the national perception of the program and kills excitement in the casual fanbase. If I had money to seriously donate to NIL, those losses would give me pause. Because, if you routinely lay eggs against...

    CFP Ranking

Wild that a non top 25 team could make the playoffs. FWIW, I’m a fan of conference champs being rewarded, but there will be A LOT of noise when Memphis gets in over a SEC school.

What grade would you give the Gophers in the win over MSU?

I give it a C. For once I’d say the coaching outperformed the players. There were multiple times where players were schemed open and the play was missed or a play was dead but missed tackles let it continue. The play call to have Lindsey roll out and take it himself to end the game was bananas...

2025-26 College Football Coach Fired/Hired Thread

I’m always shocked at how highly Sark is viewed in the coaching ranks. He’s had a #1 ranked QB back to back and transformed them from projected first round picks to day three picks. Have to wonder if they really were overhyped or if Sark is just bad at coaching QBs.

What grade would you give the Gophers coaches and players in Iowa loss?

Absent unexcused is what I would probably put in the grade book. To get an F you have to at least be present to receive it.

All Things 2025 Minnesota Vikings In-Season Thread

O’Connell should get charged with a crime for continuing to throw Wentz out there. Both for the pain it’s caused me and the suffering Wentz experiences every time he drops back.

15 years ago today, Tim Brewster was fired.

I was pretty young and could be totally wrong, but I recall that being a weird situation where the interim tag was removed but most people still viewed him as a short term replacement which is why I considered him to basically be an interim firing.

Crazy to think this was the last time the Gophers have fired a head football coach (not including interim head coaches).
