Does Fleck get asked to interview for other coaching openings ?

Waiting for the settlement is probably what’s keeping him from pursuing a HC job. Part of his case I believe is the defamation from the accusations has damaged his employability for head coaching jobs so he’s seeking the buyout plus future income. That would kind of fall apart if he took an NFL...

CFP Playoff Committee shoehorns in Alabama at the last minute for the second year in a row ... this year with 3 losses...

I hate to point it out but he’s not wrong. Bama even had a bad loss late in the season to OU. And they didn’t exactly throttle an average Auburn team when they knew they needed to for the optics. I don’t think Illinois should be #12 at all but I think Bama should be like 15-18.

CFP Playoff Committee shoehorns in Alabama at the last minute for the second year in a row ... this year with 3 losses...

#11 is ridiculous. They lost to unranked 6-6 Vandy, not only losing but they never led in that game and gave up 40 points. They lost to Tennessee, OK that’s a “good” loss. They were totally shut down by unranked 6-6 Oklahoma. So 9-3 Bama lost to 2 teams in the bottom 1/3 of their own...

Official 2025 Roster Movement Thread - Who's In and Who's Out?

First Luther, now Hayden, are leaving. Most likely landing spot for the duo is the Minnesota State University Screaming Eagles.

    Has Minnesota Surpassed Wisconsin?

If anything the Gophers are currently stronger in larger part because Wisconsin is weaker, not because the Gophers have moved up a tier or two. The same can be said of Iowa, who is getting weaker in the new B1G although Ferentz still owns Fleck.

    Has Minnesota Surpassed Wisconsin?

They are definitely on the downtrend, although it takes more than a couple down years to say a program has been surpassed. They’ve been even or ahead in B1G standings most of the last several years. They could be at risk of becoming a Nebraska of the 2010s, but I don’t think that will happen in...

How does anyone compete with this NIL power?

Great, so billionaire’s wife is annoyed that Michigan is losing again so they buy a HS QB for $12 million. Problem is not that there aren’t plenty of rich Minnesota alums. Since there’s not been a history to create die hard fans, they’re not going to just throw $10 million to recruit some kid to...

All Things P.J. Fleck Rumor Mill Thread - Listed as Candidate for Other Jobs

Where did you get 12th? I see him at 9th according to https://sportsdata.usatoday.com/ncaa/salaries/football/coach, so right in the middle. Thats about where the Gophers have averaged, middle of the pack. Riley, Fickell and Smith of MSU were definitely overpaid.

    Badgers fire their OC

They are seriously lacking in depth. Fickell is going to have to hit a home run on an OC (or at least a double) and fire up their NIL base to get more and better transfers than he did this past year, in order to restore Wisconsin to respectability. I don’t know how they shut down and almost...

Post Game Thread: Gophers lose heartbreaker to PSU

No it’s not, because it’s not objectively obvious, just subjectively to you. PSU was losing for a majority of the game against BGSU, didn’t exactly dominate or light up the scoreboard on pretty bad UCLA and Wisconsin teams, had to beat a below average USC at the last second, and an “average”...

    Run Game

Right, so he was a pretty good passer if he’s 4th all time. I didn’t imply that he was better than those who came after him, just that there is/was often a perception that QBs tagged as “dual threat,” are not thought of as strong passers. He is right up there with all those guys. And if...

    Badgers fire their OC

If the gophers are sufficiently motivated, it should be a blowout like the Nebraska game. If they’re in letdown after the big game this week, it could go either way.

Post Game Thread: Gophers lose heartbreaker to PSU

On what basis? The OSU-PSU and IU-OSU game scores? That is not a valid comparison. OSU has been getting stronger throughout the season (wouldn’t that be nice?) and the PSU game was a whiteout in Happy Valley versus IU visiting the ‘Show, first time Cignetti has ever coached there. Illinois at...

AAK was not a bad passer, especially in hindsight comparing to the string of quarterbacks since him.

I didn’t even consider Washington and Oregon. Eugene is way way more than 200 miles from 4 start target rich territory.

Nebraska and Iowa must be in that category.

Auburn with 3 false start penalties on what should have been a game winning TD drive. At home with no crowd noise factor. Super undisciplined play. Tied up and going to OT.

    Nebraska is back...

Nebraska is bowling because they played UTEP (2-9), N Iowa (3-9) and Purdue (1-10), so half their wins from teams that would have to pool all their wins to get to 6, and a very very down Wisky team. Kudos though for the Colorado win and Rutgers is actually OK this year. They won the games they...
