Is it time to admit PJ (and staff) can coach?

PJ can coach - He has made Minnesota a second tier B1G team and continues to send talent to the NFL in a way that gives us the opportunity to break through. Plus he is ding it in a way that makes our program distinctive (builds community leaders/outstanding young men). He has also been able...

UVA Tony Bennett to announce his immediate retirement in a press conference on Friday at 11 a.m.

Why take over at his place his dad coached, when he could come next door and build something up in upper Midwest that can be better than what his dad did.

All Things 2024 College Football D2 and D3 Thread

Went to the Bethel vs. St. Johns game. I will say that St. John's QB is probably the best D3 QB I have seen. Coverage was great against his WR's and he threw amazing throws right where they needed to be. If Bethel blitzed he seemed to find the open man. The refs didn't help Bethel out at...

    This has aged poorly.

Iowa vs. Minnesota; which team has advantage at each position

What a fun game to play. Look at my teams position groups and use whatever data I have to try and show how my team is better than yours. Can't wait to read this guys stuff when Iowa plays Ohio state and are 2-2. It will be hilarious.

    Lincoln Kienholz -

It would only make sense if he wants to be here (we probably won't win him over via NIL) and he is fine competing for the job. If he has talent, we need at least one more QB to compete even if Lindsay is the starter. I don't think bringing him in is going to upset Lindsay. He will beat out a...

Say something nice about Iowa this week.

They have a bunch of nice schools that provide education for people from MSP and Chicago that need a place with no distractions.

    GopherHolers: A Fleck temperature check

Why I am optimistic: 1.) There were a dozen or so plays that seemed to go against the Gophers, where if any one of them change we win. 2.) The defense seemed legit, as does the overall talent on the team (weak at WR, and OL seemed to be a weakness vs a strength). 3.) What Brosmer did in the...

18 former Gophers land on initial NFL 53-man rosters

FYI -- > Last year to start the season we had 14 make the opening rosters. This year we have 2 additional rookies and Tyler Johnson and I believe Gibbons weren't on active at start of last year. Great to see the Gophers getting more people into the show. Excited to see those numbers grow...

    Did Rossi resign?

Rossi, never truly "left MN." In the day and age of transfer portal and NIL one of the best things coaches can do is build relationships with programs that are highly susceptible to being pillaged. Becoming a DC at MSU has let Rossi gather valuable insight, relationship and report with the...

New Gophers QB Max Brosmer is exceeding P.J. Fleck's expectations

AK = great arm that was inconsistent in part because he did not have a feel for the game. Threw too hard on plays he shouldn't and made lots of poor reads. OC KC was able to keep playbook simple and i am guessing only gave him one option on where to throw the ball. That is good for a handful...

Gophers DC Corey Hetherman wants to 'play fast every single play'

I just don't want to go back to the early days of Coach Fleck when all the teams had to do was run a sweep or some outside run or pass and it was an easy 20 yards. No team was beating us up the middle, but we would give them 600 yards around the edge. Very thankful they switch DC then. Fleck...

    Luke Ryerse Commit

Amazing get. On a pitching staff at East Ridge that had 2 other SEC baseball recruits I thought he was the most complete pitcher. Even without the value add to our baseball team (which is immense) as a punter he is easily top 5 in the nation if not the best. Great get!!

CBS: Big Ten position and coach rankings for 2024: Analysis of strengths, weaknesses for all 18 teams in conference

I am shocked at how poorly our defense is ranked. They have NFL level talent at every level. I get the don't compete with the tops in the conference, but being in the bottom 4 in every category seems strange.

Golden Gophers in the NFL - 2024 Season

I love how people don't want to give Fleck the credit. How many players were recruited by and coached by other coaches before and still didn't make the NFL. Recruited by others and coached for 2 years or more by Fleck = a Fleck player. There is no problem crediting both the person who saw...

Ranking Quarterback Rooms: Nebraska Football vs. the Big Ten (14. Minnesota Golden Gophers)

We will find out a lot about our passing attack this season. 1.) Is Max the stud we hope he is? 2.) Do our OC's know how to create a passing attack? - If Athan succeeds at Rutgers and this year is more of the same you better believe the pressure will be on them and how PJ hires OC...

Ohio State football Buck'Eyeing' the Big Ten: Minnesota Golden Gophers

We have potential NFL talent at every level on Defense and Offense. If our QB flashes that he could be a late round selection, this team could be special. The challenge is that is a lot of "what ifs" because it means counting on player development and coaching. In years past I would be...

Phil Steele: Gophers have 6th best RB room in the country.

How does the 6th best RB room in the country not have a single RB makes any of the top 4 B1G teams? Teams 5-6 must be stacked with Gophers.
