All Things 2025 Playoffs and Bowl Thread

As much as I personally agree with it, we all know southerners will never allow it to be the Rose Bowl. Maybe if it rotated every other year with the Sugar Bowl. Not sure why semifinals shouldn't also just be at highest seed home site?

Doesn't Phil Knight own tons of Nike stock? There is a closed feedback loop, in this specific case.

Miami is a really long way away from everyone not in Florida. Only a hub for American Airlines. I know it has the tradition of the Orange Bowl, but it's just a bad spot to travel to.

And a rematch where Oregon has advantage, at least in a statistical sense, of losing the first game. Just statistically I believe, rematches tend to be won more often by losers of the first game.

As UU said, Nike pays for the exclusive rights to be the uniform provider at a considerable number of schools. That's of course not the same thing as funding the NIL at Oregon ... but Oregon is the home school, and they "test out" many uniforms, equipment, and branding ideas.

Two bolds: your words here are highly biased by your eye test and the few moments from each game that stick out to you/you choose to remember. You don't have statistics to share on the actual percentage of tackles he missed, or the percentage of times he was out of position, and how those...

Seifert with outstanding work, per usual. This here is the meat of it for me: MCCARTHY MISSED HIS rookie season because of a torn right meniscus and lost nearly 40 pounds in the ensuing months. He later connected the weight loss to his inability to work out rigorously during his recovery. The...

It seems you believe that he can do almost nothing to help his case. Only do something to hurt it. If so, I agree

In my (perhaps not so expert) opinion, this is just yet another way to show that what he did, and the value Collins, Fleck, and the rest of the staff saw in him, didn't necessarily transfer into stats. Again, the big one being picks. That's the big difference. But perhaps teams were telling...

Appreciate your post and appreciate your attitude in a general sense. I don't by any means think you're "wrong" to choose the way you view it. What rings especially true for me, is when he said: "I’m not going to pay for some other guy's kid who’s mostly here to play a game - and, as we're...

Tony Nelson will be back next year.

As others have said, it made absolutely no sense why he wasn't playing more. Marshall was a bust

You added the link at some point after my post, as is proven by my quotation not containing it. Apologies I missed it. Here's one: https://www.si.com/college/indiana/football/indiana-football-lands-cal-transfer-portal-quarterback-fernando-mendoza-01jfwngqhak1 Following three seasons at...

I guarantee both Fleck and Collins would (and may yet still get a chance to say publicly?) that they would love for Koi to stay, and mean it with every fiber of their being. Wonder if Fleck will be up Durr's ass and demand a public retraction and apology?

When talking about individual players, of course it does! When talking about a team, it is entirely irrelevant as shown by the 2025 Jags.

High school rankings are irrelevant to transfers and their rankings as transfers. I think you should be a bit more honest about that. How much did Cal pay Mendoza and how much did IU pay? We can't know, but guessing the latter was far higher. That also doesn't prove that Cal didn't blow its...

It's a lot of the same staff as was at JMU in 2023. In some cases, the same players. They didn't even make the conf championship game in 2023 at JMU. I doubt they're doing a single thing differently. They just have much better players.

Where are you seeing #4? Thought it was top or maybe #2. Rankings, as we all know, don't often get it correct. There is no amount of development that can occur in one year on a guy who already gained most of his improving on mistakes elsewhere, that can take him into a Heisman. He already had...
