All Things 2025 Playoffs and Bowl Thread

Both teams had some penalties to kill or allow the other to extend drives and backbreaking self-inflicted mistakes.

SEC Bias: This is a reminder that LSU these last 5 years is the same as Minnesota, just with a lot more AP votes and more FCS wins.

I included that in a later post. Wisconsin and Illinois were also 2-1 vs MSU during that time frame.

During the East/West era, 2014-2023, here are the records of B1G West teams vs Michigan, Michigan State, & Penn State: Wisconsin 5-7 including a loss to PSU in the B1G Championship game Iowa was 5-11 including losses in 3 B1G championship games to Michigan & Michigan State. NW was 5-10 Illinois...

    Wins since 2018

I go with 2024 as the starting point. Conferences expanded to the current lineups, did away with divisions, started the 12 team playoff.

SEC Bias: This is a reminder that LSU these last 5 years is the same as Minnesota, just with a lot more AP votes and more FCS wins.

Check out head to head records from 2014-2023 of Ohio State, Michigan, Penn State, & Michigan State vs any team in the old west division. I'm pretty sure only Wisconsin has a winning record vs any of those teams during that time span. (EDIT- I was incorrect on this statement. Wisconsin...

SEC Bias: This is a reminder that LSU these last 5 years is the same as Minnesota, just with a lot more AP votes and more FCS wins.

I wouldn't argue that the SEC gets the benefit of the doubt when it comes to rankings but outside of fan bases of Minnesota, Wisconsin, & Iowa you'd have a difficult finding anyone who thinks the old B1G West and old SEC West were even in the same ball park. The argument is just absurd. It's...

Ole Miss: in 2021-2023 they finished 10-3, 8-5, & 11-2. Mississippi State (2022), Texas A&M (2021) and Arkansas (2021) also finished a season ranked over that time period. No B1G West team outside of Iowa finished a season ranked from 2021-2023.

SEC Bias: This is a reminder that LSU these last 5 years is the same as Minnesota, just with a lot more AP votes and more FCS wins.

For 3 of those 5 years Minnesota played in the B1G West and LSU played in the SEC West. Pretty significant difference in having 6 games vs the B1G West & B1G West each season during that time period.

    How To Fix College Football

I'm not sure you can put a cap against how much an individual can earn through endorsements. That would be challenged in court and lose. Likely wouldn't make it to court. I agree that college football is broken but the only realistic option to control NIL in my opinion is to do what the NFL...

Fleck: I had a player walk in say, it's just business. I said it's not business here. There's a piece of business here, but this is not business.

60s Guy is 100% correct. Parents don't listen to coaches anymore. Or teachers. Or really any figure that is tasked with developing their kid in one way or the other unless that parent happens to agree with what that coach/teacher/mentor is saying. Once it gets any from total agreement things...

B1G: East vs West vs Pac

In the East/West era Michigan State won 10 or more games, with 7 or more B1G wins in each of those season, 4 times (2014, 2015, 2017, & 2021) and won more division championships than Illinois, Minnesota, & Nebraska did combined. They would have been the best team in the West in 3 of those...
