Yeah, conference championships didn't seem to mean much last year. Those teams had to play an extra game, but the winner at least got a bye. The team that loses and still made the playoffs gets screwed.
Of the 4 conference champs, not a single one advanced past the first matchup they played.
Yep, I was there for that...We were all prepared to rush the field. What a roller coaster.
The night opener that year against TCU was amazing, as well. The student section crowd was so fun. Made some good friends that night.
A comfortable conference win! What a gift.
I felt a little 2nd hand embarrassment for the field rush, though. Probably not necessary for the #25 team. I know the rest of CFB fandoms will clown us for that one.
Anyways, great win. Keep it up.
I actually didn't realize how bad Indiana was before Cignetti. Only 8 bowl games since 1991. And they haven't won since 1991.
Even more impressive to see where they are now.
Congrats to Indiana. They're probably gunna be a playoff team in back-to-back seasons. No reason we can't have that in MN. PJ Fleck needs to get it going.
It's a little earlier in the season, but Indiana is basically in the position we were in for that Penn State game. Would be cool if they could get the win.
I asked this very question on the board maybe 6 or 7 years ago. Basically the same conclusions but different reasonings. Sadly nothing has seemed to change in all that time.
