Is This Ben's Best Ever July Roster?

With the DG news, in response to the original question: not anymore.

CBS: Big Ten football rivalry rankings: #2. MN vs. wi; #3. MN vs Iowa ; #11. MN vs. MI; #13. MN vs NE; #21. MN vs PSU

It’s time for Floyd and Paul’s Axe to hang out together in our trophy case.

Toledo’s Tyler Cochran commits to Minnesota.

Don’t disagree. Better than giving it to a walkon. Who will match up with the big wings we will face? One of our seven or eight 6’2” guys?

Toledo’s Tyler Cochran commits to Minnesota.

He looks built. A little bigger, but makes me think of Lawrence Westbrook, another combo guard.

Toledo’s Tyler Cochran commits to Minnesota.

Looks productive. I would have preferred a bigger wing for that last spot, as we only have the unproven Kadyn Betts (6'8") and transfer Femi Odukale (6'6"). Everyone else on the roster is a front court piece or a short guard like Cochran. At least we used all our available scholarships.

C’mon, Gophers! Don’t be dead last again.

Shama: Shocker! Cam Christie First-Rounder…to Timberwolves?

Thank goodness common sense prevailed and the TWolves took Shannon from the B1G instead of Christie. Yes, Christie was All-B1G Freshman team, but he was a second or third option on a weak team (yes, our team). His lack of NBA readiness has been extensively discussed (even by us, his fans.)...

2024 Strength of Schedule For All 134 FBS College Football Teams (41. Minnesota Golden Gophers)

With the bulk of the games in conference, when you’re a bad team, everyone you play is better than you. Purdue having the toughest schedule says more about them than the competition.

    Cavs work out Jamison Battle

I think Morgan Fairchild would have a better chance.

Shama: Shocker! Cam Christie First-Rounder…to Timberwolves?

It would surprise me. For a team that’s often been without first round picks, that finally has one again, and is (perhaps) one plug-in player away from the championship… it seems unlikely they would spend that pick on a multi-year project.

STrib: Gophers returnees Dawson Garcia, Parker Fox and Mike Mitchell Jr. provide needed stability

Wouldn’t “non-stop calls until the portal closes” be tampering? Mitchell wasn’t in the portal and shouldn’t have teams calling him.

How many recruits commit tomorrow and Monday?

I find it interesting that we had a few recent offers that were immediately accepted. I can’t remember that happening often in the past. Were they lower profile recruits that didn’t have other P5 options? Or have we turned another corner as a program?

A deep Duck dive into the 2024 Gophers.

Apparently ducks can’t really dive all that deep. Don’t most of them just pivot their butts in the air and reach down? That’s not a dive!

    Ken Evans Jr. campaign thread!

Can Evans be a Vince Grier type of transfer difference-maker?

    Ken Evans Jr. campaign thread!

If your notion of “not so bad” is tenth place, I guess. My how our expectations have dwindled. Is this really what we were hoping for when we showed Pitino the door?

Minnesota native Lu’Cye Patterson commits to the Gophers

Vote expected this week to settle NCAA class-action lawsuit

What about those poor oppressed players that were ineligible to play varsity as freshmen back in the 60’s? Should it they get a cut? Or the 5th—12th place FB teams that are denied a shot at the title in past years? 🙄 Where would this end? You played by the rules that were in place at the time...

Has College Basketball Turned into a Boring sport?

It’s hard to care much about a game that resembles pickup hoops. Noon ball, choose up sides and go. No continuity. No familiarity. No growth and development as a team. A new season means a whole new roster. It’s ludicrous that the college game now requires extraordinary investment (especially...
