2025-26 College Football Coach Fired/Hired Thread

I thought the BYU guy was the betting favorite. Edit: I see I was beat to the punch.

There were a lot more earlier in the season.

Gophers 2025 Movement Roster Thread - Transfers, Bowl Opt-Outs, Etc.

I think the Gophs run the west coast because they have: #1 an O Line that doesn't play physical at the point of attack in the run game (especially the right side) but could at least get in front of guys for a short time in pass blocking, #2 wide receivers that couldn't catch contested catches...

    More John Nestors, please!!!

To some of the above comments, Nestor at a 75.6 PFF grade in pass coverage, is #10 in the conference for those CBs playing at least half the snaps. That's pretty decent. He's #8 in run defense at 78.4. He could be a bubble all conference honorable mention. Meanwhile, Iowa has two CBs in the top...

    Max

Agreed. Darnold for $100M wasn't the answer. He's a "shrinker" when it matters like Cousins was. Besides, at already the highest player salary budget in the NFL, I don't think that contract was even a consideration. Some of that is on Jefferson commanding a giant contract. The problem has been...

That guy is a rising star. Not sure if OKSt is revivable without Boone Pickens money, but he’s one to watch.

POST GAME THREAD!!! Gophers Beat Badgers for 4th Time in 5 Years!!!

I bet he was thinking a pass past 10-15 yards gets picked off again with the DBs playing back, but yes, that slow drive was a gift.

He’s eligible for the NFL draft after next year. I think we have him for one more year of development IMO.

    2025 Bowl Projection Tracker

The Alamo snubs pushed us into the Sun Bowl I think and those were big fun. El Paso isn’t much of a destination but the venue, local game support, and Mexican food and beverage were outstanding. Regardless, it sucked not landing at least one trip to San Antonio in that stretch of bowls.

8 win seasons could be tough

I agree on the non-con scheduling since the 9 conference games are getting tougher with both the addition of good west coast teams and overall elevation of the BG10 with new $$$$. Pull an Indiana or SEC and schedule all G5/FCS. Heck, Indiana also gets the advantage of having Purdue as its only...

All about Max Brosmer Making the Cut

I’m keeping my expectations in check. Debut games for rookie backup QBs are usually very rough. That said, Max has the advantage of comparison with one of the worst starting QB seasons in modern history.

Home losses by year post Bierman

Talk about a bifurcated schedule this year. One bowl qualified opponent at home and all five bowl qualified on the road.

Home losses by year post Bierman

Yeah, my first thought was 2023 (not 2022) but even that crappy year had the crazy win in Iowa.

How would you grade the Gophers 2025 regular season?

I grade on a curve given that OSU, Oregon and Michigan are in a different stratosphere. A winning BG10 record and Axe in the case is a B. Beat Iowa and Northwestern and it would be an A.

How would you grade the Gophers 2025 regular season?

Damn, if the Gophs have a FG kicker, they could be tied with Iowa and probably USC in the conference standings.

Undefeated at home for the first time since 1967. Awesome! Winless on the road for the first time since ???? I think 2022. Not so awesome.

POST GAME THREAD!!! Gophers Beat Badgers for 4th Time in 5 Years!!!

I kept thinking Minnesota was running offensive plays to fit the snow (and stout interior D) the same way Wisconsin did vs Minnesota in 2019. It was dependent on the Gophs D, but both worked.

What grade do you give the Gophers in the rivalry win over wisconsin?

As much as I was bitching about all the short passes, it was a good game plan for a snow game against WI, a team with a stout interior defense and bad offense. Kudos. The D was great and won it. As Gringa posted above, A is for Axe.

***OFFICIAL wisconsin AT MINNESOTA PAUL BUNYAN 🪓 RIVALRY GAME IN-GAME THREAD!!!***

I’m OK with that. Force a bad offense to make many plays and drain the clock.
