It’s Official; Gophers play New Mexico in Rate Bowl

The conference treats those bottom three bowls as being on the same (last) tier, and so it views the last three teams (that go to those three bowls) as all being equivalent and interchangeable. So there is no such thing as one of those teams jumping the other. It was simple decisions based on...

They don't get any notoriety. Unless they take it upon themselves to make some video to let anyone who is listening know that they were the reason. Kinda selfish, but that's how these people are.

TV ratings = $$$ = Bowl Games Players will play if they're given game checks. Guaranteed. It will live on. Throw em a couple bones, watch em come running

It’s Official; Gophers play New Mexico in Rate Bowl

@Some guy here's the hypothetical that would prove it. Say that we have exactly the standings we have this year. Now say that, for whatever [make up a reason], the Rate and Detroit bowls were cancelled. Couldn't secure the venue, doesn't matter. So that means the last bowl slot to fill is...

Yep, for sure. It's as close as he can got to "officially" mattering. Letting people know that he made it happen.

I disagree. I've read that article and it says exactly what I'm getting at here. To be an SEC bagman was to be like a spy. You were owed a huge debt of gratitude, but you could never be publicly known/acknowledged. It was always a gladhand and wink from a coach. Nothing formal and public...

Great question ... wonder if it has ever been attempted

So in some sense their choice wouldn't be much different than say Virginia choosing to opt out and screwing the ACC out of filling a bowl slot. Though again, ultimately at the end of the day the conference is pissed about not filling a bowl slot because they'll lose out on the money that bowl...

    2025 Bowl Projection Tracker

Understand all that. In the previous system at least, there was part of the deal that made Notre Dame eligible to be selected by the Orange Bowl in years that it wasn't a semi-final game. Now with the 12 team playoff the Orange is obviously part of it every year so that wouldn't apply, just...

Bold: I am surprised to see, you are correct. Did not realize it was that large. Endowment is also more than 3x larger.

He was not officially part of the Texas Tech program. He gets no official credit. The record for this season will not contain his name. He can tell himself that he "made this happen" all he wants. There's nothing standing the test of time that will prove that. He will be forgotten. How long...

It’s Official; Gophers play New Mexico in Rate Bowl

Players will play if they get a slice. That simple. Throw em a couple bones, watch em come Also, I pretty strongly disagree with the players being allowed to vote to decide that they don't want to play a game that is on their schedule. Should players be allowed to vote that they don't want to...

I don't care how good they are on the field. They're not P4. That automatically makes them less interesting, for me. And most casual fans will pass on it, as well.

First three absolutely deserve big fines. Big XII should go higher on the fines. Not sure if ACC has the authority to fine ND for skipping out, not sure how the updated bowl deal works.

It’s Official; Gophers play New Mexico in Rate Bowl

You can't point to a Big Ten document backing you up. I say, when Big Ten has enough teams to fill the Pinstripe, Rate, and Detroit bowls, they treat all those last three teams the same. You cannot disprove this. If they don't have enough teams for all of those, then that's not an equivalent...

All Things 2025 Minnesota Vikings In-Season Thread

If we lost to Washington, we'd have equal records and they would have beat us? How would they still be in front of us? We'd also have equal records with the Bengals and Atlanta, but I don't know how the tiebreakers work. But with our win we're for sure behind them now. No one will convince me...

Do they count for ACC filling it's bowl slots? I thought that was part of the deal of them playing ACC games, is they get access to some ACC bowls? Or maybe that's just the thing with the Orange Bowl ... and perhaps that was before the 12 team playoff. Not sure how it works now
