    MICHIGAN ON NBC

I’m… surprised… NBC wants us anywhere near a primetime slot the way we’ve played, even a “rivalry” game against a media darling. This might be Iowa at Penn State 2.0.

How do you cope with Gopher disappointment? I broaden my view to the wider B1G. You?

I’m with you OP, in that while I’m a diehard Gopher fan, I’m also a B1G and CFB fan more broadly. I happen to live in Lincoln so I loosely follow the Huskers and will cheer for them against anyone but the Gophers. I also like following the Jacks at the FCS level. These kind of maddening losses...

    After sleeping on it..

After sleeping on it… I’m glad Minnesota isn’t a “national brand” because this would otherwise be painted all over the national media, and it’s not. That’s my depressing solace. We’re irrelevant enough that this epic collapse barely registers beyond the Minnesota and Northwestern fanbases.

Week 4 Big Ten Power Rankings Thread

It’s a bad day when I agree with a Badger site.

What grade would you give Athan Kaliakmanis in his return to his home state for the NW game?

He had a decent game. But needs to learn not to fire rockets on every pass—that last OT pass to the end zone being the most costly (still should’ve caught it though).

    We Still Control Our Season

Saying the Gophers control their season is like me saying I control my ability to make a billion dollars.

I knew it was all over when this happened. A bad omen for the football gods.

Describe the Gophers loss to Northwestern in one sentence

So bad that I will not be watching any other games this year.

    Big ten power rankings

We should be behind Indiana and Nebraska. Yeah, I know we beat Nebraska, but they’ve actually looked like a competent football team since benching Simms.

What grade would you give the Gophers coaching in the embarrassing loss to Northwestern?

    F. But not “I scored a 58 on my difficult calculus test,” but more like “I forgot how to read.”

    Fire PJ immediately please

Don’t fire him immediately, but his seat has to at least be a little warm. If there isn’t notable improvement by early next season, there’s little reason to think things will improve beyond an occasional 6-8 win season, especially in the new B1G. We’ve looked like garbage in 3/4 games this...

UNC WR eligibility denied. Mack Brown lets loose on Statement.

Awww, poor ‘lil UNC didn’t get to bully the NCAA for once. Must be tough being held to actual standards. I feel a little bad for the kid but UNC will never get any institutional sympathy from me.

One of the best annual photos - The Class of 2027

I was in the first class photo like this (I think), for the class of 2013. Awesome to see this become a tradition.

What word or picture pops in your head when you hear "Nebraska"?

Also a Gopher living in Lincoln. Most exciting place in the world? No. But it’s a safe, clean, growing, (relatively) affordable, and friendly city. Great place to raise a family. I’m not above joking about Nebraska (or other states), but some of you guys clearly need to get off of I-80 next...

Do MN really suck that bad?

I share some of the frustration that Minnesota feels like a school that underperforms a bit in academic and athletic rankings. But expecting it to be among the elite of the elite public schools isn’t very realistic or just a matter of institutional will. It’s not as if we could be Cal if we...

Athlon Sports reports Clemson, Florida State, Oregon, and Washington

I’m hoping the only non-Midwest additions we get are from the west coast because that would retain some tiny semblance of geographic and cultural cohesion. We’d be a northern/Midwest and west coast conference. Leave the southeast and south central (TX, Oklahoma east through the Carolinas) to the...

I guess I have to cheer for Wisconsin? Poll

I’d add one second category: depending on the year and the specific team, I’d consider cheering for Wisconsin against an overrated SEC team in a (non-playoff) bowl game. Like I’d probably root for a 6-6 Wisky playing a #24, 7-win Tennessee team or something.

Nebraska's Matt Rhule or Minnesota's P.J. Fleck? | Benning Bites

Twin Cities. But as a Gopher living in Lincoln, you could do a lot worse.
