What grade would you give Gophers coaches in win over UCLA?

Won a night road B1G game on the west coast with a fourth quarter score from behind to win against a team that, I think, is tougher than their record suggests (not to say they’re good). Some frustrating stuff but given the circumstances I have to give a B.

POST GAME THREAD: GOPHERS COMPLETE HOLLYWOOD SWEEP!!

Gophers are 2-0 since my son was born last Saturday. You’re welcome.

Where does the USC win rank in the Gophers' P.J. Fleck era?

I think this is a very subjective thing. For me, beating Wisconsin the first time in PJ’s tenure was the biggest because it was the first time they had beaten Wisconsin in my fandom—I.e., after starting at the U in the late 2000s.

Describe the Gophers win over USC in 1 sentence

Not by much. This fluid in the lungs issue is pretty common after a c-section, so I’m told. It usually resolves after a few days, it’s just slow going and agonizing (maybe more for mom and dad than baby).

Thank you. He’s doing ok, still struggling with his lungs. He’s kid #2 and is already better at scaring us than his older sibling!

Describe the Gophers win over USC in 1 sentence

Same man. My newborn son had to be admitted to the NICU today for breathing help, and I watched the win from his room. His first Gopher victory is a big one!

Should we be like Iowa fans and get a T-shirt

The call in the Iowa game was a bigger deal because it eliminated a game winner (though I think it was correct). The call in the Michigan game was hugely important, but there’s no guarantee we would’ve won. So I’d vote no.

    After 25 years… I’m out

I’m not *that* invested but I feel ya. There’s zero reason to be optimistic. Not about this season, but about this program and Gopher sports in general. The deck of modern college athletics and the dynamics of the U (pro sports town, lots of transplants, mediocre recruiting base, etc) are...

Post Game Thread: Gophers Lose Floyd After Embarrassing 2nd Half

I see four winnable games left: UCLA, Maryland, Rutgers, Wisconsin. Say they’re toss ups and we win 2. That’s a 4-8 season. Another year trending downward in an increasingly competitive conference.

Which Team do you hate more Iowa or Wisconsin?

Depends on the year, or even the season. But usually Wisconsin, in part because of envy. They’re a lot like us on paper, but always seem to do better in recent years. Lots of love from the national media too. Doesn’t help that most of them are Packers fans too.

Gophers 63rd best team in the nation per The Athletic Rankings.

I like our odds against almost all the teams on that list.

What grade do you give Gophers coaches in win over Rhode Island?

Dominant D, let the offense open up, win 48-0. Not sure how you give that less than an A. It was an FCS opponent, yes, but I’m not going to grade on a harsh curve because of a scheduling decision. Maybe an A- for a slow start.

Poll: Who is your Gophers MVP in dominating win over Rhode Island?🏝️

This. It’s not taking anything away from Brosmer’s good (very good/great?) performance to say the D was far and away the MVP today.

Max Brosmer vowing to be more efficient after disappointing debut

I know what you mean by “test,” but PJ is usually good for one “how did we lose that” game per year. I think Nevada could be that game. They’re supposed to be awful, but they played SMU tight (don’t laugh, they’re a P4 team now!) and beat Troy on the road. Could be a Bowling Green situation.

Time.for PJ Fleck to Go, Engine Started

His teams are generally getting worse since the 2019 peak. This may be a 2-3 win season. He should be on the hot seat by the end of this season, but idk that we have the resources or courage to fire him.

This is a 2-3 win season unless we see drastic improvement in several areas.
