Week 14 Rivaly Week Other Games Thread

Iowa finishing the season strong and better than I thought they’d do, since they found some offense. Nebraska has fully folded up the tents as of their last 2 road games. Ruhle looks kinda checked out, maybe bummed he blew his chance at auditioning for the PSU job.

Is Emmett Johnson biggest miss ever

There is some validity to saying “everyone missed on him” but if there’s anyone that wouldn’t miss on a local/regional recruit it is the local team. Wentz was at a Fargo high school but Emmett Johnson was at Holy Angels and Evan Hull at Maple Grove I think.

A little love for Koi Perich

More than that, the Gophers probably had very little chance in this game without the returns.

    Jett Walker flips to MN

Or maybe it was the Minnesota weather cooling on him.

#6 Fitzgerald on Northwestern (no relation to former coach) is probably the best tackler in the Big Ten.

The Law of the Unknown Trajectory

When you take special teams as a whole, that is what put the Gophers in the game, which generated more points than the missed FGs left off the board. There were I believe more return yards than passing yards.

That last first down pass? It wouldn’t have made a difference, that was thrown to the line of scrimmage and it’s a spot foul, so basically it would’ve given an extra down, when they didn’t really have time for extra downs anyway. It’s a good thing the guy didn’t actually catch it as he would’ve...

    Danny Collins

A kickoff return to the 5 yard line in my opinion, special teams gets full credit for a TD. A muffed punt inside the 30, I give special teams credit for at least 3 points. No question the offense was better than the defense but it required unexpectedly good individual effort by Lindsey and WRs...

Describe the Gophers loss to NW in 1 sentence?

Northwestern tried to apply a handicap to the game by repeatedly kicking it straight to Perich.

    Danny Collins

35 points notwithstanding, 14 of those were basically from special teams.

    Replace Greg Harbaugh Jr. With?

T The first half offensive play calling against Oregon seemed very aggressive to me.

In the Gophers 3 Big Ten loses this season, Minnesota has been out scored 125-19.

That is a head scratcher statement considering all but Nebraska required late 4th quarter come from behind scores. Hence winning those 3 is an improbability that wouldn’t bounce as favorably if you played that schedule 10 times, most likely it’d be a mix of 2-1 or 1-2 in those games. And if they...

Seems like they’ve lost like 4 QBs and 4 RBs this year.

    Week 12 Other Games Thread

But but it’s because the SEC is TOP TO BOTTOM EL1TE that these losses happen. SEC should be graded on a curve! You’d never see OSU or even Indiana lose by 4 TDs AT HOME against a 3-6 B1G team.

Post Game Thread: Oregon Fumbles TD, Blows Out Gophers

Actually just last week or 2, Northwestern replaced Indiana with the most total losses in the history of the programs.

    DB’s

So why are they playing him both ways when his defensive play has fallen off?

What grade would you give the Gophers in the Oregon blowout?

    C. Aggressive offense gameplan. Moved the ball. 3 scoring drives. Defense really bad. With neutral officiating it’s still a loss but let’s say take 10 points off Oregon.

    Replace Greg Harbaugh Jr. With?

Yeah, I didn’t say it was smart or effective. For all the motion and misdirection it is a lot of horizontal behind the LOS stuff. It depends on guys breaking tackles basically.

    Was this a fumble?

Never seen a play exactly like it so I think the league will have to review what “re”gaining possession in the end zone means, but once they ruled he regained possession for one step in the end zone it is a TD, the ball is dead and he can’t “fumble it again.” Begrudgingly on watching the replay...
