I don’t think Indiana is similar. I think they’ve seen a huge influx of cash. I believe Mark Cuban is involved

Please provide proof of this concept or are you just making up a scenario in order to be mad that it’s not happening?

    It's time for a change.

The staff knows how much money they have to work with and need to do a better job of what positions they allocate the money. Figure out how they can create mismatches. OL needs to be a high priority and maybe they load up on skilled TEs that create a mismatch and can help in the run game? Need...

I’m speaking specifically in regards to revenue received by the schools for media as mentioned in the post to which I responded. Just because Minnesota gets a ton of money from broadcast deals does not give them a leg up against any of their competition.

Prove there’s no other reason for the way he is hiring. What benefit does he have to hire cheap, inexperienced coaches? I won’t argue with your last point. This season has been coached rather poorly with little to no improvement.

Not necessarily. There could be multiple stipulations that aren’t public. I have no doubt that the administration would try to pinch pennies wherever possible. Just saying PJ is choosing not to spend the money doesn’t make sense.

Yes, in their second seasons but he’s consistently found new hires on the cheaper end of the spectrum.

Ok… why isn’t it being spent? Have you seen an actual budget for assistant pool or just the increase clause in PJ’s extensions? It’s my recollection that those clauses have been rather vague.

Are we sure there’s unspent money in the pool?

My point is if a coach wins people will put up with a lot. Also, I’m certain Saban was not easy to work for especially given he was willing to get after Kiffin like that in the public eye. Every B1G team is getting the same amount of money so that does not create any sort of competitive advantage.

Yeah but he was a cheaper hire at the time…

We sure seem to be short on pay for coaches given who they hire. I’m sure every head coach is tough to work for to some extent but if they win assistants are willing to work for him. Nick Saban went ballistic on Lane Kiffin on the sideline but that didn’t stop anyone from working for him.

The coaching staff needs to look long and hard at how NIL funds are allocated. Where do they have to spend at a high level and where can they get away with a less expensive option. For example, would the offense be better this season if the money given to Darius Taylor was allocated to the OL...

It’s understandable if a school like MN doesn’t have the funds to compete for top athletes but you can NOT compound that by being cheap on coaching. If a team doesn’t have as much talent they have to execute the Xs and Os flawlessly. The Gophers have not been anywhere near that this season...

***OFFICIAL MINNESOTA AT NORTHWESTERN WRIGLEY FIELD IN-GAME THREAD!!!***

How does a team go an entire season without cleaning up something as simple as zone coverage? They’ve been terrible at it all season. I understand being bad at man all season if you don’t have the athletes but you should be able to clean up zone coverage to some extent.

What type of defense was that? There were 3 guys standing arms length apart staring at the QB…

The completion numbers for opposing QBs this season is completely and totally unacceptable. This defense has been in Robb Smith territory all season.

This team is just so unbelievably unprepared every week. It will be incumbent upon PJ to make changes at every level of this program. Offense, defense, recruiting, portal, NIL allocation, strength and conditioning, etc.
