All Things P.J. Fleck Rumor Mill Thread - Listed as Candidate for Other Jobs

I was joking in my original post about Lindsey going to Arkansas and bringing Fleck with him, but it is the only way Fleck ends up at Arkansas. Fleck's approach will not be received well in the SEC. He'd be a fool to try it.

Reusse: Is P.J. Fleck the answer to lift the Gophers out of mediocrity?

You left off one important stat: Fleck has the highest winning percentage against ranked teams in the B1G in forever as well. It's only 26%, but while he's played fewer ranked teams than Mason (9 fewer in 8.5 seasons vs. Mason's 10 years), he has won twice as many games against ranked...

Reusse: Is P.J. Fleck the answer to lift the Gophers out of mediocrity?

Tressel. I've heard Fleck called the millennial Tressel on a number of occasions. Tressel coached the same way, but had the best players in the conference to work with. That approach worked well for PJ at Western Michigan, where he was the best recruiter in the conference and had resources...

This data is far from perfect, but........

The difference in the last two weeks.

You can be both unprepared and play scared at the same time. You don't always see it from Fleck's teams, but you see it regularly, and it stands out.

The talent levels are roughly the same. We just get less out of our talent regularly, while Iowa consistently gets more. But I also just keep forgetting these things take time. It's only year nine.

This game wasn't an upset. I was expecting a loss. I did not expect how we lost. And Iowa is not a blue blood.

thanks. I was only able to watch it in a crowded bar, so didn't notice he wasn't on the field and couldn't hear the announcers. I also hadn't sene that mentoined in any of the recaps. So .... it's on me.

We don't believe in momentum, haven't you heard? I believe this better term for momentum is confidence. As others have said, we blew all the confidence coming out of Nebraska. Let's see if we can go build some more against Michigan State. I believe that Iowa is a good football team and don't...

The difference in the last two weeks.

Three-man rushes aren't because we're scared; it's because our secondary has dropped off considerably from last year. Ultraconservative is because PJ's scared. The try not to lose approach. Now, when you're down 0-17 against the Hawkeyes after 4 offensive plays, and 0-24 after 7 offensive...

The difference in the last two weeks.

Against Nebraska: PJ led teams are 6-1. Some close games recently, but a significant win streak. Team comes out inspired. We have a solid game plan. The players understand it. We beat Nebraska handily. Against Iowa: PJ led teams are 1-7 versus Iowa. Games have generally been close, but Iowa...

Greatest individual sports achievement in Gopher history.

Ron Johnson's 8 catch, 163 yard, 1 TD day in the upset of #6 Ohio State in 2000. Schooling All B1G CB, and first round draft pick after that season (21st overall) Nate Clements all day long.

Souhan: Here are the top six embarrassments in Minnesota sports in the last week, ranked in reverse order of humiliation (2. Gophers Football)

He has not talent as a columnist, which is why he works for the Strib. I don't know about his personal life, but I wouldn't be surprised if he wasn't schtupping anybody, either.

AT WHAT POINT DO YOU SAY ENOUGH IS ENOUGH

It was such a different time in College Football. This isn't based on data, but Gutey benefited from Holtz' recruiting and having #39 in the backfield. His results, as well as recruiting declined year over year. He benefited from scheduling breaks, but had a good team, but as his tenure went...

AT WHAT POINT DO YOU SAY ENOUGH IS ENOUGH

My son attends Arkansas. They sell a shirt on Dixon Street that reads: We almost always, almost always win. Maybe we need one of those, too. Show up for even part of the 1st half, we probably would have won that game.

AT WHAT POINT DO YOU SAY ENOUGH IS ENOUGH

Offensively Mason's teams were the best since the 80's, but had issues on Defense. Defensively, Kill/Claeys teams were the best since the 80's, but the offense was limited by coaching and recruiting. As a whole, Fleck's teams have had better parity between the offense and defense, but neither...
