Post Game Thread: Gophers Lose a Very Winnable Game at Cal

These squads are pretty evenly matched. One played a close to perfect game the other team? Not as well as they needed to.

    Koi Perich ...

IMHO a big part of coaching is realizing that it may just not be a players day. Again, on to Rutgers.

Time of Possession and Special Teams?

For me, mental errors can be a way of lacking discipline. Going against a fielding rule is also seen (by me) as such. Hopefully, only make a play if it's there to be had or it is true desperation time. Mentally, the team needs to move on to Rutgers.

Agree with what you said. Especially the bold. Two weeks to be angry and hungry. Take it out on Rutgers!!!

Time of Possession and Special Teams?

Ugh. It came down to special teams play. Just did not see two boneheaded plays like that occurring. Lack of discipline killed our chance.

Darius Taylor = Doubtful against Cal.

Running backs take a beating. Also, water is wet.

Time of Possession and Special Teams?

Good points. I think we mostly agree. I think that the team has matured to the point where we can open it up sometimes. Just guessing that the coach would prefer not to have to just yet.

Time of Possession and Special Teams?

If and it's a big if we can score first, this approach can and does work. You are basically forcing the opponent to press/ make mistakes. It's a form of Tressel ball. I think this is a wish because I think the team wants to keep things under wraps till BigTen play.

Time of Possession and Special Teams?

Will time of possession and Special Teams be the keys to the game? I am guessing that we will want to squeeze the life out of the clock and play solid conservative special teams flipping the field and cleanly fielding returns. My guess is that the goal is to make this a grind it out slugfest...

What are the chances we see Darius Taylor play on Saturday vs Cal - your guess

I voted not sure because I could see DT lobbying to play if healthy enough.

Gophers Open -2.5 vs Cal Bears

((Grabs Gophers7NatTitlesBadgers0 by the face mask, looks him in the eyes and gives him the play to be called in the huddle.)) 😁

Unless your suiting up to play against California Berkeley, take all the time you want/ need. ;)

Gophers Open -2.5 vs Cal Bears

Part of me thinks that if UCLA is able to balance it's athletics budget, it would go a long way toward pulling the two of you in. IMHO "Northern" California football is too big for it to just fade away.

Gophers Open -2.5 vs Cal Bears

It's kind of silly that you and Stanford are not part of the BigTen yet. Academically, it would be a slam dunk.
