    Conference Realignment Updates

Does anyone think, given the Gophers' inability to compete in the BiG since the 60s, that moving to another conference might be appropriate? Yes, I know a lot of money is at stake, but if the administration is truly not a champion for excellence, it could accept less money from a less...

    Half time adjustments (lack thereof)

Why did the UM admin change their attitude toward athletics in 1961?

Underpaying Coaches - Is this our top problem?

You're right. But paying players is a recent corruption of the game. Prior to that, UM wasn't keeping up with the conference in recruiting either. Something else keeps enough top recruits from choosing UM and that's been the case since the 60s. We need to figure out what that something is...

Underpaying Coaches - Is this our top problem?

If underpaying asst coaches is our problem then we've had it since 60s I don't think that is THE problem. Neither is the state of our facilities. The problem is we are unable to recruit enough top talent to compete with the other conference schools -- and that has been true since the 60s. If...

    PJ Isn't Going Anywhere

Since the 60s the Gophers have had 10 coaches. The performance has been consistently around .500 in the conference plus or minus. I don't know how many assistant coaches have passed through the program. We're in our third stadium. There is some reason other than coaches and facilities that...

    Half time adjustments (lack thereof)

"We have a massive lack of talent on this team in comparison to others. Iowa had the better lines, the better linebackers and the better secondary. Their running back is way more explosive than anything we have, also" Why is possible to recruit better players to Madison, Iowa City, Lincoln, et...

YouTuber put video out indicating that Minn is one of the "historically TERRIBLE college football teams"

Why would integration in the South affect UM more than the other conference teams? I think you had it right at the beginning -- VIkings and Twins distracted fans and media.

How many good teams are there in college football?

Not to be flippant, but one easy way to distinguish Good teams from Not Good teams would be to consider half of all CFB teams (by Division) "Good" and the other half "Not Good." And you can't know that until the end of the season.

P.J. Fleck on struggling offense: 'This isn't backyard football'

From this point forward this season, six wins seems like a difficult goal to achieve.

    GopherHolers: A Fleck temperature check

Think of the first two drives after halftime. NC drives 400 yards in 60 plays for a FG after sputtering in the first half. Gophers throw two incs and get stuffed on a rush and punt. What was talked about in the two locker rooms during the halftime?

How the Golden Gophers spent a decade running without making any progress

You didn't go back far enough. The Gophers were a solid, winning program prior to 1961. Then something happened that dropped the Gophers to decades of what you describe. No one wants to discuss what happened in 1961.
