    Nebraska

Smith was let go in the middle of the 2018 season either right after the Nebraska debacle or a week or so later. It may have been the second blowout that did him in. I probably should have written it more clearly. Fleck pounded Nebraska in 2017 and got pounded by Nebraska in 2018.

    Nebraska

Kill won a couple in a row against Nebraska, but I don't think Claeys beat them. Fleck's first year (2017) we beat them 54-21 and Nebraska turned the tables in 2018 beating us 53-28. They racked up 383 yards on the ground and I remember the game pretty much spelled the end for Robb Smith, I...

Souhan: Gophers football coach P.J. Fleck doesn’t need to overhype his program anymore

I'm saving bytes by not copying your whole post WindyCity, but that is one of the most accurate depictions of what is wrong with the state of MLB right now that I have read. I don't know how to fix it given consumer preferences for action, action, action on the playing field at all times and...

All about Max Brosmer Making the Cut

After watching him play QB for the Gophers, "emergency QB" was Dungy's ceiling under center at the pro level.

Daniel Jackson released by the Texans

Tyler Cooper cut by the Packers. Nothing yet on Lindenberg. Fingers crossed he makes the Raiders' 53.

Daniel Jackson released by the Texans

I think you've hit on it. For a guy in Jackson's situation, you need one standout tool (usually size or speed) to make folks take full notice. Still and all, he'll likely be on a practice squad somewhere. He's a solid player who just needs to find a fit.

Daniel Jackson released by the Texans

Jah Joyner was cut by the Raiders. I'm guessing both these guys will have legitimate chances to be on someone's practice squad.

Quincy Avery: Drake Lindsey is so much better than anyone understands. I truly and honestly believe he's gonna be a Rd1 pick when it's all said & done

I tend to worry less about Lindsey than I do the WR group. I could easily be missing things and the portal guys should be good, but there's not a ton of experienced depth beyond the first unit. Hope it all comes together because the raw talent is probably there both at QB and WR.

    Week 0 Other Games Thread

Again, only saw the first half and both defenses looked aggressive. So many unforced errors by the offenses that maybe that is what made them look so good.

And sings in a Led Zeppelin tribute band as Robert Plant in the off-season. I only watched the first half and it was pretty ragged.

All about Max Brosmer Making the Cut

To a point above that you have done a good job disputing. Is advance scounting now against the rules? I'm an old man and back in the day, our basketball coach would send another teacher to our next opponent to scout them. We knew what was going to happen when the opposing point guard shouted...

All about Max Brosmer Making the Cut

Brosmer's long arm is better than I remember it with the Gophers. Of course, I can't remember the Gophers sending WRs on fly patterns very often either.

All about Max Brosmer Making the Cut

I couldn't figure out why he was drafted. He put up pretty good numbers at Florida, but it was a lot dink 'em passes in a fairly QB friendly system, but he is pretty limited.

    Brosmer in Vikings Game

Hard to get a read when it's 3rd-stringers v. 3rd-stringers, but he looks decisive and while his arm isn't a cannon, he can get the ball there. His macro-accuracy (putting the ball in the vicinity of the receiver) is excellent. His micro-accuracy of putting it where the receiver can do the...

All Things Class of 2026 Minnesota Gophers Basketball Recruiting Thread

It probably won't apply to the top-tier guys, but I can see guys a bit down the list wanting to go to a program where they will see significant playing time as a freshman in hopes of either garnering a big-time NIL deal or impressing pro scouts. To one of your main points, if you can get them...

    Michigan gets its “penalty”

I want to see the parking lot at NCAA HQ. It's their version of NIL. As for the penalty, I had a couple of friends who attended Catholic school in the 1950s and 1960s and they told me the nuns could be pretty rough on the knuckles with the ruler. Looks like the NCAA rapped Michigan's knuckles...
