I’d probably be right there with everyone else if we didn’t have Coyle. He’s had to make two big hires to make and I think he’s nailed both so we should take some confidence from that. I’d love if one of those two was announced on Monday haha.

I think worst case scenario is we make Dutcher an offer he can’t refuse. I don’t see Coyle getting beyond his 3rd or 4th choice. Breathe easy and enjoy the tournament

Elephant in the room? Williams Arena

Winning cures all. When you have a bad program, an old arena will be viewed as a negative but when you win, it becomes a selling point like Cameron Indoor, Allen Fieldhouse, Hinkle Fieldhouse and so on. The great coaches embrace their surroundings and turn perceived negatives to positives and...

It’s been really difficult to get a read on it. The usual media talking heads are all over the place in who they think is the favorite but my gut is telling me it ends up being Gates...very Fleckish but in a different way. You? edit: should add that I’m still flying the Craig Smith flag but...

The entire culture of his program is built around this system and he’s shown minimal flexibility. Could we see a variation of this system if he were hired? Sure but coaches largely stick to what’s given them success, hall of famers can coach one way at one stop and a different way at another but...

does anyone see this defense translating to the Big Ten? I don’t and think Moser is probably the worst of the options we’ve discussed on here. He’s landed recruits from the Chicagoland area that get overlooked by the P5 that the rest of the MVC can’t land which gives him the quality of athlete...

I hear that. My list is probably Smith, Gates and Dutcher in that order but it's pretty 1a and 1b with those first two. Gates' resume is just a little light for me to put him ahead of Smith right now but his ceiling may be higher.

So Lake just said the #1 target is Dutcher with Loyola Chicago's Porter Moser looking like the main backup option...doesn't see Muss as realistic. edit: Disappointed Craig Smith and Gates weren't mentioned but this is just one reporter's source, I imagine Coyle's keeping his list close to the...

Scoggins talks to four coaches anonymously about the Gophers job

It's incredible the amount of time that's spent discussing the bare bones of the U's athletic department when we've been given numerous examples of a coach coming in and shifting the trajectory of a program. Good recruits and fans will follow a good coach, I don't think the best recruit in the...

Smith had a pretty good rep as a recruiter at Nebraska. He seems pretty personable, ton of energy, and can sell his resume of "Hey, I've won the conference everywhere I've been as a HC".

SDSU's improved their team 3PT shooting percentage every year since Dutcher has taken over as HC. 31.7% in Fisher's last year, now 38% from 3 in the past two seasons. Good mix of shooting and physicality on the interior.

Their half court sets are so clean. Tons of player and ball movement while active and vocal on defense. Even when they're in a funk in a game, the effort is there and heads don't drop. Short rotation but very connected group

I don’t see Indiana’s next hire being anyone we’re considering. They’ll go with someone who’s done well at the P6 level. I’m sure they’d test Chris Beard’s loyalty to Texas Tech or Drew’s to Baylor

Oh I totally agree and am frustrated we didn’t land Roddy, my point was more about Medved who hasn’t proved a great deal in his coaching career yet. I included Roddy because people have talked about them as a package deal.
